Hi all, A good frame with a lot of action. Please leave comments as I'm willing to adjust the game to keep it fair and fun for all.

Some comments from your JABO:

-The axis did not close any fields...I'm considering adding more ai to help achieve your objectives. Please let me know your thoughts...

-The ai routine of the supply trucks did not run..They were tested and ran fine earlier...kacey and I will look into this and make sure they are up and running next frame.

Thanks to all who participated.

If you have any comments or suggestions please leave them in this thread.

Thanks!

nookyb

Thanks Nookyb and the 4th for letting me fly with you guys.

After taking 2-1/2 years off it was a lot of fun to be back with the group.

I thought it was only fitting, after being gone so long, for Juice= to give me a proper welcome back! (then of course I ended my next two lives myself, ooops)

Learned a lot in one night, Flying fighters is so much more complicated than strike or buff. you actually have to watch your fuel, WTF?

Really good setup overall.

Constructive criticism:
The inflight radar rings of the map are not accurate at all. There are quite a few positions providing radar that aren't shown on the map. Way too much radar coverage, especially for the Japs...at least the Allies did have extensive ground observers to support more coverage, the Japs not so much. Allies should have longer radar coverage than the Japs.

Adding more ai bombers may solve the perceived problem, but will exasperate the collision issue. A nice tight formation might help, those 20mm are nasty. Maybe more human pilots should fly bombers to get the job done. That's what we had to do last series to be competitive...fighter pilots flew bombers who really didn't want to, but did. It is a conundrum to deal with.

Regardless of what is done bomber wise, great setup!

Thanks for comments. Yes the collision bubble is my concern as well. That and I’ve seen darry close a field with one ai in one pass. So I thought 2 ai would be adequate. I’m not sure if his betty’s got through to target .. if not, more ai won’t necessarily help. I may still add ai, but I think axis will need either more buff drivers or tighter escort for their bomb missions. But that’s up to them.

I thought dar was 30 mi. when I planned and was also not 100% sure which fields have dar. I don’t think I can give one side farther dar that the other as I don’t think that is a settings option. I’ll find out.

The Allies had a lucky break when the 23rd FG stumbled onto the BUFF group early in the frame without the aid of RADAR (found them in an area not covered by Allied RADAR). The alarm went out and all available fighters were vectored onto the BUFFs. The 23rd FG drew first blood, pulling some of the fighters down then the rest of the allied fighters showed up and had their turn flaming the hapless BUFFs. I think this early action disrupted the Axis offensive plan for the night.

The 23rd suffer 3 collisions last night with the BUFFs. Lag is a real issue. One reported his collision occurred at D2. I collided with a BUFF due to excessive speed in the dive resulting in the loss of elevator authority.

Yes, you've seen Darryl close a field with 1 ai, but that's using a mega bombloadout from a lanc...check out the bombloadout on a betty. Look at your OT_XXXX list for required targets, examine the target fields for how may of these objects are at any given field, then checkout the objpoints.txt file for hardness of these targets, then check the weapons fie for point damage inflicted by bombs to give yourself some idea of what it may take to close a field. Adjustments can be made to any of these files, ie , how many points it takes to destroy an object, reduce the number of objects required for closing, etc
True, im allied this series, but fair is fair.
Dar in .show was indicating 20 mile..its .sset radarrangex xxxxx in feet, and yes you can give different ranges by color....gold radarrange can be x and red radarrange can be xx, colors indicated in .show in radarange as numbers 1 is red 2 is green 3 is gold.
for the umpteenth time in last 10 years, there is NO collison bubble. There is only lag and since warbirds runs up to approx. 6 sec lag before kicking you out, its a problem, and I "suspect" the more ai's in the area, the more an issue it may be. I don't like the answer either and have lost many planes to collisions with buffs.

When I say collision bubble, I mean lag + damage boxes for the planes which I assume since they are boxes, they are larger than the visual edges of the aircraft.

I can certainly adjust some of the settings you are mentioning, but only a few bombers got through to target so I don't know how much that would have mattered.

The betty's carry 4 approx 550lb bombs + 2 ai. Thats 12 bombs per human pilot. I was figuring that the axis with say 6 bomber pilots, maybe 2 get shot down... that leaves 4 pilots, + 8 ai = 12 bombers with 4 bombs each = 48 550lb bombs. would be enough to close just about any field.

I know the DAR in the japanese area was fairly large but wasn't concerned as there was very little reason for allied to go into Japanese territory given the frame objectives. However I will see what I can do moving forward.

thanks for input. I want this to be fun and fair for all.

Hi Nooky: I couldn't see the DAR lines from the tower view, I suggest you put them on that view as wel.

Changes:

Buffs changed from 2 ai to now having 3. That should help buffs accomplish missions. However I suggest you still get together in groups with escort!

Also retroactively changed scoring: Instead of buff or ai buff having same score, I've spit them into two categories
G4M1 Betty was 4 points...NOW is 3 points
G4M1 Betty ai was 4 points...NOW is 1.5 points
D3A1 Val is still 2 points
D3A1 Val ai is now 1 point
B-25C was 4 points...NOW is 3 points
B-25C ai was 4 points...NOW is 1.5 points

Otherwise allies would have run away with points for shooting down buffs.

However please know, in this series what counts most is your mission objectives. If you want to ignore mission objectives and just dogfight, you may win the kill/destroy points, but that will only get you 3 bonus frame points at the end. Complete as many of your objectives as possible to gain Frame points! There are 3 points given out for each frame for a Series total of 15 points up for grabs! A Frame points breakdown is given in your weekly Frame orders.

Also at your request, I've had kacey change the DAR range from 30 mi for all to 20 mi for allied (since they had forward observers) and Japanese is now 15 miles. They didn't have dar, but would certainly have troops on the ground to call in any enemy planes they see. This should also make it a bit easier for the buffs to get closer to their intended targets.

Thats all I can do for Frame 2. I appreciate your comments and will do my best to accommodate any reasonable requests for future frames.

I've got some great Frame missions/objectives planned for this series so hang in there!
