Gentlemen,
I am awaiting Frame 3 jabo report.
I am looking for accurate map for frame 4. Probable we will have to think in terms of east and west coast again but unknown.
If any have a good understanding of this please inform.
Otherwise will be thinking about concentrating forces to most important and/or most point worthy target areas.

Awaiting info and helpful comments.

Trying to get the updated terrain posted today. But its my fault for being so late.

You can look at the planning map on the main site. You will need to toggle on the radar circles to see your coverage at 20 miles. With the enemy having an airstart from F25 and F26. You will have a short scramble if they decide to stay off radar until the last minute. Expect the bases in the north to fall quickly as the Japanese have concentrated their forces in and around Formosa. Equally troubling is reports of a Japanese invasion force out of the Marshalls heading to the Philippines from the far east.

Late in the frame when the dead use B17s I would target the CV group or any Japanese beachheads. The beachheads have several static ships and may be easier to hit from altitude.

Main targets for the enemy would be your LAF, MAF and SAF airfields around Manila and to the NW. They all have a number of hangars and parked aircraft. The two American ports at F3 and F54 would also be prime targets with all their static shipping.

Ok so the holidays and the late post of the terrain etc have made it so I can now see on Saturday what is up.

Question JABO: Are you saying that we cannot take off at T-0?
If so then we must wait until dar contact? or Donkey contact?

Much depends on the answers.

So, if we can take off at T-0 then I am thinking that we base North in all available bases and take of (possibly with bombs) to the south reaches and then Attempt to bomb the landing forces on the west coast from altitude.
When DAR tells us the target points we go toward the contacts and engage knowing we must fly south the rearm and rebase.
IF we have dedicated bombers to fly at landing forces then attacking the 1 6 and 1 5 box landing craft would be best at first for B-17s being based at 1 or such.

IF we CANNOT take off until contact then a basing of 35 , 22, 11, 36? 34? (both on west north coast) and move toward the 3 6 box to find what is the situation.

Need input from those who can.

Jabo states in frame 3 summary that for frame 4:

1. US aircraft cannot scramble until IJ aircraft are picked up on radar or a ground target is destroyed. They then can pick their fields to scramble from. One start field per squad.

This is the same as frame 3 which makes the first sortie reactionary.

My thoughts fwiw:

They will consider into their plans the facts that we have no radar in the NW part (34/36 area) of Luzon. They have a 'close by ' CV in the NW and they have a fighter airfield (13) just off our radar N of Luzon. Also they have airstarts for bombers at 26 up N. They will have landing forces approaching the NW as well.
Taking all those parameters one would think the NW of Luzon is ripe for action.
Of course trying to think like the Axis forces is iffy at best ;) ...like the end run they did frame 3 with un-escorted bombers coming from a different direction of their other forces.

A last minute decision will have to be made on home fields and how we react to their actions.
I'm sure we all will make them pay for their aggression!

Agree.
Looks like we will be reactionary.
If/When B-17 begin to be a force southern west of luzon would be first probability.

So, At T-0 we will all be discussing the fields we will be at, then morph as the DAR picture clears up.

If you log into the arena you should see the inflight map showing the radar rings. The first sortie should be reactionary. You could see where the enemy bombers are hitting then try and cut them off. But climbing up to anything will put you at risk so maybe caution is the smartest avenue. In later sorties patrols will be necessary to find the enemy before they pop on the limited central RDF area.

I'm looking at the map, but can't decipher what airfield the B-17's will have for a base with an air start.
