Jabo states in frame 3 summary that for frame 4:
1. US aircraft cannot scramble until IJ aircraft are picked up on radar or a ground target is destroyed. They then can pick their fields to scramble from. One start field per squad.
This is the same as frame 3 which makes the first sortie reactionary.
My thoughts fwiw:
They will consider into their plans the facts that we have no radar in the NW part (34/36 area) of Luzon. They have a 'close by ' CV in the NW and they have a fighter airfield (13) just off our radar N of Luzon. Also they have airstarts for bombers at 26 up N. They will have landing forces approaching the NW as well.
Taking all those parameters one would think the NW of Luzon is ripe for action.
Of course trying to think like the Axis forces is iffy at best
...like the end run they did frame 3 with un-escorted bombers coming from a different direction of their other forces.
A last minute decision will have to be made on home fields and how we react to their actions.
I'm sure we all will make them pay for their aggression!
