Just want to throw out the opportunity for any squad that wants to do this role in the final frame.
I have no problem doing the same thing again, just don't want to monopolize the early flight.

Aye!

Our problem is the "step" limit for scouts.

So far, we have not been penalized for having both the NS and Nomad folks lurch as scouts. We have not had 5 planes/pilots yet, but almost made it on frame 4. So once again I ask for relief and as long as we only have 5 or 6 "scouts" , we can use both boats and the seaplane base.

The scouts have been very good sinking boats, and it would be good to continue. I fear the IJN will increase their CAP for the last frame, but what the hell.

For now, Nomads wish to stay in the B-25 and use F33. Sucker is easier to fly than the navy planes and is fast.

This chart shows the start positions for Frame 5. Within what is available to the USN, is there any particular spot that gives an advantage for Scout Start?

the closer a scout starts...... the better, but the closer you are to the enemy.
unless you start out heading away then turn north...

Can always fly from the land base... its pretty close anyway.

if you start out in the north west corner and head south east then turn north... or the like, it might take you away from the japanese scouts for longer.. Just do what's best for the carriers.

This chart should be somewhat representative of "Cool's" suggested route.

COs and flight planners are encouraged to comment on it. With no strenuous objections we will make it so. The first thing our side is required to do is advise Jabo of our preferred CBG Route and turns if any.

COs and Flight Planners please comment:

In the last Frame...

The enemy did "rather well" by flying everything but a one-flight CAP at our Fleet, AND in what seemed to be planned "waves" of the incoming attack on our Fleet was VERY successful. There is no prohibition of an "ALL STRIKE" USN Force. OTOH, one sorta feels "morally obligated" to defend an entire friendly Carrier Battle Group. With the amount of resources available, unfortunately, BOTH cannot be done properly at the same time. Sometimes "good enough" has to do.

The USN "Side" prolly has a fairly substantial lead going into Frame 5. It would be pleasant if all of our Squads were participating in something rather unusual with a "gold rush" reward if it paid off. Just remember that we gotta protect the Fleet. Our ships represent the most substantial point value to the Enemy. Suggestions solicited.

Wolf....

I kinda want to fly a B25 this last frame... so I would be ok if you wanted to start the cv further away from prying eyes....

I've no problem basing from the CV, so if you want to have someone based there I'm good with flying the SBD again... either way.

I'll be gone til sunday so I will check back then.

Thanks!

Aye!

O.K. Stalkers, F33 and head around IJN dar and then north. Somehow I feel the Nips are gonna cruise south at first, then east.

The so-called practice arenas for boats suck, but at least we lowly buffs ( that do not expect action for 30 minutes or longer) can refine aimpoints on the moving boats. Not sure if the bigger eggs are more effective than ripple of 3 x 500. Nomads have been attacking around 5,000 to 6,000 feet at 200 IAS.

Will test and report back.

There "should be" a carrier that we can dedicate to "Scout Launch" at T=0 if you evaluate that as "closer" to where you "think" you might find the bad guys. IF you happen to prefer F-33, personally I would move the CV start point a bid further away from the IJN box.

7. Squad Basing - each CV base up to 3 steps of squads to start play while each seaplane base may base 1 step. Afterwards CV squads may use any available carrier to replane. Seaplane scouts must return to their field to land, they cannot use carriers.

I would not characterize a B-25 as a "seaplane". That should allow historical carrier basing for that type of aircraft. However, "historical recovery" of B-25 type on the carrier might be difficult to demonstrate if more than one sortie is desired for the "scouts".
