Basing

Night Stalkers F153

UMM/Nomads F217
100th / AE's F217

RCAF F218
4th F212
23rd F225
475th F221

Plane Type / Orders

Nightstalkers : Mossie VI (recommend 500#s and Rocks)

Strike 1) Lift at frame start, a roundabout strike (north to @1.8.8 then East to 4.8.8) and wheeling in from the north to hit the station at F4...about 35min to target then RTB to base for strike II.

Strike 2) Strike the Dar station F34. A northern route to @ 1.7.8 then hitting from the west popping up from NOE puts you on target @25:00 from wheels up. .

This accomplishes 2 things....1st, it takes an isolated station out that extends axis radar coverage @10-12 miles in that idea hopefully leaving a dead zone in later frames, and 2nd it might provoke an axis reaction in that area to search for planes that already are leaving. If both strikes are successful, the Axis has a monstrous dar hole now to the northwest of Sicily and should prove to our advantage for further frames.

UMM/Nomads (Wellington 9x500#'s)

Target is F99 (profile tested is 35% fuel, CS 135 with 1 grid of WEP1 used).
V030 WEP 1 to 5.3x
V000 100% to 5.5x 18K reached
V @045 to target (approaching from SW)
You may want a different line to bomb on but this profile puts you on target in @55Min. There is a bit of room for additional manuevering to choose the best line, but be aware that the best time to strike is between the NS Mossie strikes. If the axis reacts to the lost coverage, they might move forces to the NW and this gives you time to get in and out. I chose the Wellington for this frame because of it's notoriously slow climb rate knowing we'd probably only get 1 strike out of it. This leaves the faster planes in the barn for later frames. By closing this base, it leaves a massive hole around Agrigento, with the closest bases @45 miles apart. A big hole we can exploit later!

100th/American Eagles
Bomber Escort. I'd recommend using your allotment of Spitfire V's as they easily have the legs, stay with and get above the bombers.

RCAF/4th/23rd : Anvil Flight (P-40's)

Gentlemen, we are going to provoke the axis with our version of the big wing. I will do my best to keep you cohesive and within reaction distance of each other. The P40's are best under 20k so I don't recommend climbing too much above that. Initially , I want you to climb near Malta but go no further North than the 6 Line. I want them to come SOUTH so we have dar coverage and the advantage is ours once they come out of their dar. Ideally, we get them to pursue our Warbirds to Malta, then we can spring the trap....

475th : The Hammer (P-38s)

Guys, you are the ones that can touch the sky. Get those FTD's up to the stratosphere and racetrack @ Malta proper. If the axis takes the bait, then the P40's can drag to you and the sky will fall on them

Of course, if the Axis command decides to send a strike to Malta this frame, then we will have @45 fighters waiting to greet them. Either way, they can't ignore that many planes....which gives the Wellingtons the best shot to get in/out.

In summary: A left jab followed by a gutshot and the knockout right punch awaiting.

PLEASE make sure after you select your plane/field that you type /.mov HQ ....the enemy cannot see your location by checking roster. This is essential to this plan to work...they have no idea where we are ( I told you I would come up with something evil!) 8-)

Salute!

Very nice, Squatch.

We buffs will try to stay slow enuf so any close escort has at least a 50 mph overtake.

Nofly has final word on profile and such, but we should have 5 Wells and can work up lines and such Sat.

475FG will be on station high and will stay out of the fight until the bulk of the enemy fighter strength commits low so communicating when that happens in a timely fashion will be critical.

Strike 2) Similar to the 1st, a roundabout strike taking advantage of that hole in coverage (north to @1.10.8 then East to 4.10.8) and wheeling in from the north to hit the station at F4.

Squatch.....please double check the coordinates you have posted here. Strike 1 (1.9.8) puts us well north (60miles) of an east/west line to 34. I understand the roundabout but no way we meet your T+25 if we go that far north. Strike 2 (1.10.8, 4.10.8) puts us off the map??

Squatch.............Think I answered my own question:

The posted series map via the S3 website has a different grid mapping overlay than the current in-game map. Numbers are shifted North/South by 2 grids.

NS coords should be 1.7.8 on strike 1 instead of 1.9.8............and 1.8.8 and 4.8.8 instead of 1.10.8 and 4.10.8.

Please confirm this is correct.

Dew, you are correct. Please use the corrected grid for your strike, I didn't see that the co-ords didn't match. The intention is to get a quick jab in early possibly moving the LW assets to respond.

A well planned frame sir. Is there any particular reason to use the low alt strike-fighter P-40F (4th FG has ~0 hours flight time in it) to go toe to toe with the axis fighters instead of the Spitfire IXe? If we are to dive away from the Axis the P-40F is a good airplane though, great dive speed. Don't know yet how it holds up if we are to come back and furball once the 475th is in.

Be careful all as the Macchi C.205's are nearly as fast as Mustangs.

/Robert

I'll be honest.....I would rather hit F4 first. Being bait early in frames has not served us well over the years. F4 would take another 10 or so minutes to get to.
