Opening up for specifics this weekend. I'll post final orders Saturday night at the latest after discussion.

Malta is off the table and I don't plan on defending against any allied strike unless happy circumstance allows it.

Right now, I'm thinking of Knights at Palleterno and Ludesco whats its bucket. Thinking fast here and don't have time to reference. This puts our strike guys in the best position to hit targets quickly. Regrettably you will be on your own for a good portion of the early frame. If the bases on the islands close you have a long walk to Sicily and we will have to reconsider options from there. There are 3 methods of attack I am thinking here.

-Raid the shipping lanes. I'm leaning toward this one as the islands are right in the middle of the lanes.
-Raid the coastal fields.
-Hit the small but valuable targets on the north of Tunisia: the depot and small field in the middle of the horn, and the refinery/port in the harbor. These are compact, well identified targets and a few static ships will be in the area. I might consider having you guys on Sicily or up on the NW field to hit these.

Let me know what you can do and what resources you need to get one of options done. I am open to other ideas too.

Fighters. Need to know, with the assumption of fighters on Sicily, what can we get to Tunisia, how fast, and what strike capability can they have? How long could they support the Knights if needed?

199 is a large depot worth 18pts. Right next door is the SAF worth 12 pts. If you can
knock out both on the same run for 30 pts, that would be a great attack.

You do realize 199 has airfields next to it, and nearby on either side. You will fly into
the teeth of whatever defense they put up to get to 199/200.

Hawk if you are going with 190F-8s I would roll and orbit to the EAST as you are DAR as soon as you lift. As you head EAST after take off keep it in a right hand turn and go SOUTH of Pantelleria NOE then turn onto route 1 This should keep you off DAR until you can get below NOE..which must be done EAST of Pantelleria.

Remember...you will need to stagger your strike group..I suggest wing pairs coming in at a minimum of 30 sec intervals.

Egress you can either follow the red line out...(you will be on DAR as the terrain is rough there) or once you clear the target area turn more 135deg and come out to the SE hit the water then run on the deck all the way home to the SOUTH and EAST side of Pantelleria..

I'm still up for winging with you if you want and rules allow. If your guys want to get together and practice also... Just LMK...

Also point-wise, always heed the tips/ suggestions thrown out by Jabo:

Quote:
The invasion fleet is forming some divisions loaded up in England and went straight to the invasion beaches. Scouting the area between Tunis and Malta would be wise to spot the juicy AI freighters

Jman,

That sounds good. Hope you can hang with us. That would be a major asset to us to have you with us.

How about this one?

Aye tracer, I wanted to explore other options as following jabo's lead at times in the past has lead to our obliteration, it looks like going after the ships will be the "safe" option. Taking a shot at Tunisia in the opening minutes of the frame looks to be highly dangerous. We should let the allies disperse a bit and show their hand a little. They may stack most of their forces on Malta, they may not.

Here's the approach I'm going to take with this frame. Opportunity.

Hawk, please have your men (woman too!) practice hitting 199, also look into hitting medium fields or less. However this may be a later frame target and the origin of the attack might be different. Also look into hitting convoys please I think this will be your first mission. There is one starting in the center of the 8,2 box and moving straight into Malta, we will have a narrow window to hut this and the closest assets we have will be on the southern island (1 step). The other will wrap around the coast of Tunisia and pass south of palleteria. I think this will be your first target to find. Fighters will arrive later to help kill what remains.

Fighters, be thinking about convoy attacks as well. First target will be wrapping around the coast of Tunisia. Also practice medium field or less attacks should the opportunity arise. As far as engaging enemy. If you find something and think you have the advantage, kill it. I would caution though against prolonged engagement.

352nd is considering using C202s for entire group first frame.
Need to know if this puts any plans or dependent groups at risk?

Remember supply depots have bridges attached. Luckily in Tunisia there are only two indicated on the planning map. To close it you need to down them. That is why they are worth big points.

The sea will be full of allied shipping but I expect the allies will also cap them.
