Tainan Kokutai will take Frame IV (sorry Doc ~GRIN~).

Note that in a Series in which the Front was likely "supposed" to move to the West, the enemy only has two remaining fields from which twin-engine airplanes can be launched. If either one of them could be closed in Frame 4, they would only be able to launch (3) steps of twins in Frame 5. One is in the "north" and one is in the "south-east" of the map. Closing of either of these fields would, likely, limit Frame 5 action to ground attack fighters against our fields which are rather close to the Front.

Thank you, Wolf. This is a good start. Hawk - what can you do to flatten the fields/

F-190 and F-25 are the only two remaining fields from which twin-engine ac (bombers) can be launched by the enemy. I would encourage Frame 4 planners to look at "what's left" for the enemy, air field wise, in the last two Frames. "What if" more than one of the large fields might be closed? "What if" one large one and a couple of the smaller ones were possible? I didn't do my homework prior to starting this response, but it would seem that it "might" be possible (as it would be in RL) to deny the enemy the opportunity to have certain steps fly at all in Frame 5. It wouldn't hardly represent the "Spirit of the S3s", but it would theoretically be possible. (I'd be fairly certain that the combat engineers would somehow turn one or more of the remaining two-step fields into 3 step ones prior to Frame 5)
Alternately, IF the Frame Planners elected to attempt both F-190 and smaller field F-178, most people would suspect that in Frame 5 that the enemy would be forced to come at us exclusively in the South simply due to basing availability for their aircraft. Take a look at "what's left".
That's a "whole quarter" more than the "two cents" I wasn't asked for. Good luck, Sakai, I'm sure any plan you come up with will "work".

Sakai,

Dewolf has it right. But hitting another big base depends on 2 factors. The number of bombers we have and the number of escorts we have protecting. Last frame, the Allies stepped up their game and was ready for us. If not for all of you the Knights would had never made it. I bet they will do the same thing seeing how the main bases are being limited. I have no problem sending my guys again to get the job done, but it will take once again a lot of fighter escorts to do it.

I can provide screenies if requested......F-190 has a LARGE number of on site targets and a three section attached bridge. I'll let the bomber guys evaluate, but it is HUGE.

OTOH, F-25 just might be "doable". There is a cluster of 88s at nearby F-90 that will likely want killing as well, but F-25 looks "possible".

F25 is doable. I will add more later when I look at the map where it is in relation where we will lift from.

If you lift from F-21 its pretty much an easterly shot....80 miles away.

~S~ Gents,

I've been waiting for an updated map and summary from Fr. 3.

In the interim, lets move forward with having the Knights on F25. Escorts will either be 352/Haze or Jg51/77/TK.

Be advised - subsequent sorties will be against known static targets: ships, tanks or outposts...as many as we can fit in, should we experience similar results from last frame.

Personal observation tells me that no small amount of pilot effort has been spent on both ships and tanks with fairly minimal results.

The VVS has the proper airplanes for this purpose in this Series. IF we have the cap available, Axis pilots have proved quite effective at going after smaller enemy bases, AND you end up with more points.

I agree with Wolf.....Tanks/Freighters take a lot of ammo and precision bombing...kind of hard to do in 109's....and for very little points.
Lets not take our foot of their throats! keep hitting their fields....

Fields 18-19-200-235-262 look like pretty easy target..... all 1 step...3 Acks a radar...a couple of buildings...some have bridges...some don't, but they're easily destroyed with Mg/Cannon fire... 5/6 Hvy 109's could close a field. Deprive them of airfields for frame 5....pull the noose a little tighter.....Hell the knights could close at least 3 of these small fields in 1 sortie......if provided with ample fighter escorts in case bad guys make an appearance.
Just thinking out loud here..............
