The series finished off with a slug fest between fighters with the bombers for the most part escaping harm. Low on fuel Hellcats were surprised to run into higher Zeroes on the way home from the first mission. The second mission into Truk had high Zeroes early on.

Bombers destroyed 20 targets and lost 1 to enemy action. 7 more were lost to accidents and CV landings. Hellcats killed 27 Zeroes and sunk 12 boats while losing 34. IJA lost 32 while downing 24 of their enemy.

The lone surviving ace is todzla with 7 kills, 4 assists, bailed 3 times, and was captured.

farout survived buffing to knock out 6 targets and had an assist.

I really enjoyed the side switching format of this series. I hope we have more of these. I don't think the IJN's slight fighter numbers edge in frames 1 and 2 as opposed to a deficit of 23 to 36 percent in frames 3 and 4 mattered at all.

One problem with a series in which one group is fighting over their own bases, and the other has to fly a long way, there are a lot of unclaimed kills. I know the 352nd would replane instead of sitting in the tower waiting for the kill on a mortally wounded fighter that was able to egress the area. To bad WB's doesn't keep track of damage someone does after he rerolls, like it does with AI's.

I have rerolled before and gotten a late kill. Happened about 4 years ago I think. I have also logged off and back on and still gotten a late kill as well.

I think the large number of unclaimed kills in this series had more to do with CV operations. ;)

You do get AI kills if you reroll; the game remembers. But if you shoot up a real player and reroll, you won't get the kill. A couple of our pilots oiled F6f's that were able to leave the Truk area. They would never have been able to RTB all the way to the carrier, but our guys replaned instead of waiting for the kill. Same as logging off, Oskar seriously damaged a few in frame 4, but because he was playing on his lunch, he couldn't wait in the tower for the kill. In the logs, you see people that bailed, but nobody got the kill on them. Yes, there were several carrier landing mishaps, especially among the bombers, but there isn't much of a reason to bail out of an F6f unless you are too damaged to land. I think in one of Dobs videos, a guy bails because he is shot up, and wonders why no one got the kill on him.

Enjoyed the series. Overall, I have to admit that I think the fighters that rolled USSN for frames 1 & 2 did a better job throughout the series. The determining factor in my view, is that you guys deployed the A6M better than we did. Hats off to each of you. Bomber guys were bomber guys the entire series and seemed like they just have a mindset to "make it work" regardless of the situation. -S's to them as well! I think most of us would agree that given a choice, we'd all rather be in the F6f, (TK pilots most likely disagree, but they make their living in the IJN plane set). Kudos. and applause to the TK pilots for swapping roles to the USSN for frames 3&4. They were dedicated to the overall mission of the LF6 instead of their own personal preferences. Says a lot about their character!

Thanks to dawger/=dobs= for continuing to try to heard the cats of the 475th. It ain't easy, but we appreciate the patience and the work you two put into the squad. -S's.

I have been awarded kills many times after re rolling in past series, I think it is more to do with log in periods. I dunno, I did eat it at the very end of frame 3 trying to ditch vatorless after a 30min struggle. No kill was awarded then, but I think at that time the person who shot me logged or was killed.
