Jabo Sir,
Rules state that Strike/Buff pilots can have 2 wingmen. Is this possible for stikes done in F6F5 aircraft?

Radar coverage IF the Radar Stations happen to be as per shown map icons.

Rules
9. IJN Scramble - the IJN may only launch 12 a/c to patrol the Truk area at T+0. The remaining IJN a/c must wait at their airfields or CVs until either a visual ID for USN aircraft is reported or cons spotted on Japanese radar and confirmed by the CM. IJN fields will identify all aircraft(NOE or not) within a visual range of 15 miles. All remaining aircraft may then roll.

Salute!

Forgive me, but I can not find the "drone commands" using "help". Can not find the commands in the manual either.

Would like to figure it out, and even using an obscure reference to "ch 114" doesn't help unless you know all the commands.

Is there an updated manual someplace that I can look at, and maybe use for my pet drones?

Control+F12 in flight gives you a popup that you can select formation, status check, strike, etc. Hope that helps

Strike can take the SBD or TBD if they want to use wingman. F6F for obvious reasons cant have wingman. Its difficult to control who can take a wingman and its easy to take one by accident and then that eats up an available slot.

No doubt the radar needs to be taken out but I feel we should concentrate on the shipping--that's where the points are!
Looking forward to a few torp runs myself--just hope I can fine tune my CV landings. :D
Saw another post about a Thursday night practice --but its just for fighters--what a crock. :x

IMO, the radar can not be taken out. Impossible. I was doing terrain eval and asked why there was so much DAR on the islands, its crazy. The one that's marked has 6 DAR objects (emitters or buildings) itself.

Question, what are the grid spacing's?

Think the key says 10 mile grids.

Also... In my opinion Radar is not a viable target. USN does not carry enough ordinance to hit all the dar in here as well as the primary targets.

(I believe that radar is much different from earlier terrains)

as for NOE: Dar basement level is 150ft. but you will be called out when 15 miles from land.

We need fighter squads to chime in here how they want to work this.
Close escort
Sweep
Establish local superiority where the attack is
Late arriving secondary escort to bounce the attackers below...

not my area of expertise.... Thoughts?

Both sides have disadvantages. SBDs and F6Fs may not need direct escort into Truk with altitude but lower TBDs with torps will. F6Fs are much faster than A6M5as so should always try to come in with altitude and dive away. Generally in every S3 before this the F6F was the aircraft to avoid because the IJ usually had late war rides to run them down. Now it is finally the speed demon so use it in diving high speed attacks, drop your bombs high to take out defending ships or AAA. SBDs should be used for precise attacks on ships and if their AI can hit anything maybe a group bomb on a building cluster. TBDs can try level bombing if torps are too dangerous. I know I have seen Ju88 AI torp ships so having two wingman may help in torping some of the static ship clusters off the various docks and ports at Truk. It would be important to scout the proper route into them so that if some AI torps missed they would run through the majority of shipping in the area. Buff tuff is 1.5 so should help somewhat to survive in these slow beasts.

Truk was the Japanese Pearl Harbor so expect its defences to be mean. You can test the flak defences online. The flak settings are set very low for the arena they may not be offline. AI DDs will be there firing at you but they will not be set high but they will light you up and point point your location.

I think there can be lots of fun in this event. New terrain and a plane matchup never tried before. Something different after all these years.

Good Luck
