You need to update to get the Truk terrain.

Group of CVs to the east of Truk to allow USN practice attacking the Truk fortress.
Please get in there and kick the tires this week so we can correct any issues for next week.

Expect this and the Pearl Harbour series to follow to be a bit different. Side swap in the middle of a series by the fighter squads.
Rules up next weekend.

Superbowl this weekend then Operation Hailstone begins Feb 8.

checked it out last night. Looks good but only spent bout 5 min there...was kinda wondering where land based allied bombers were gonna spawn from, if they used at all....looks good from a strictly CV attack though.

Now that is an awesome setup with a side switch.

I checked out the map last night. Looks like it should have lots of convoys trying to run the gauntlet.

I read a lot of US Navy history and have studied this Operation a bit.

The airman rescue operations by the USS Tang were impressive.

One of my favorite books

Clear the Bridge! The War Patrols of the USS Tang

Richard O'Kane

Publisher: Presidio Press (December 17, 1996)

ISBN-10: 0891415734
ISBN-13: 978-0891415732

O'Kane was the Captain of the Tang during the patrols.

Had a lot of trouble trying to get the TBD with a torpedo and 75% fuel up off the green CV.
SBD took off OK from the green CV

Will look at it Tracer and see if I can get a video of it. Might save the bomber FM guys some trouble if they can see it quickly.

Thank you for the input. And if you would please post on this Forum (http://forum.totalsims.com/viewforum.php?f=61 with any future issues in game. Should help us keep a repository of issues that hopefully can be addressed.

Cheers!

Hayrake Homing (VOR) seems to have been missing from carriers for a while. Any chance of getting it back?

How fast was the CV moving?

It wasn't moving fast, but I used all the WEP it had in 2 stages and I couldn't get the TBD to fly.

VSLP,
To my knowledge Operation Hailstorm did not have land based bombers-- it was carried out by carriers, destroyers and subs.
Somewhere I have photos of the many airfields and naval docks within the Truk Lagoon---BTW the name now is Chuck.
I might add I was stationed on Truk for almost a year and even did some scuba dives of the WWII shipwrecks.

Really a beautiful place.

Figured out the TBD in the S3 arena: As you roll from the CV drop 1 notch of flaps and max WEP
and off you go. This was with 85% fuel and a torpedo.
