Do we have enough Buffs to spit and do a northern and southern attack? Thoughts on this before tomorrow. I know that the straight in has been done twice now and would like to scatter the LW this Frame. Buffs do you have any certain targets that you are itching for?

Target 40 was reported heavily damaged and should be finished off.

With the targets being assigned in the "Berlin Box" only there isn't much trickery that can be done as we are in their radar for a LONG time.
40 should definitely be targeted.

I'm up for whatever is decided, but two things come to mind if we split forces:

1) the number of bombs on target are being split. Nightstalkers might have just 4 pilots.....
2) no guarantee the LW will split forces, they have enough time to finish off one then move to the other.

The series outline states that the focus is killing LW pilots and so we went to Berlin.
Quote:
For the first time the USAAF targets Berlin by daylight. The mission is to draw the remaining Luftwaffe fighter strength up high over Germany and destroy it. The numbers of P51s has increased dramatically and they along with P47s will sweep the skies around the bombers and intercept incoming German fighters. Attacks on Berlin were sure to provoke the Luftwaffe so the stage was set for fierce duels across Western European skies.

Is there a different thought process we should be considering? How best can we "sweep the LW swine from the skies"???

OK, I am going to throw this out there for consideration.

We can't win, it isn't possible, so lets have some fun.

I suggest we have NO Human buffs! That's right, none, zero, zip. I am so tiered of being a floating pin cushion for 3 hours to get minimal points.

Put everyone in fighters and cover the AI drones.

Look at the numbers:
- In a buff, they get 6 pt's for each of us they kill. In a fighter they only get 1.
- For each AI Buff they get 2pts. We don't defend them at all giving away 76 points last frame. Thats as much as we can make if we finish 40 and completely destroy another one.
- Every AX Fighter we kill we get 2 points. If we were not trying to protect us Human Buff's the escorts could chase and kill the AX.
- We could have a slight edge in numbers. ~65AL and 60AX. Of course me being in a fighter probably doesn't count so 64-60.

To "follow the rules" we would need to have NS and UMM fly as guests of some lite squads (maybe we could all fly as Knight guest fighters). I for one would love to fly with the 352nd. I did this in the MA a couple years ago and had a blast.

Please don't dismiss this outright. I know it is breaking all paradigms but it would definitely be a different approach. Possibly if the AI can get through, might actually do more damage than the 15 human Buffs could do on there own.

Also, some of us, me for sure, have never flown a lite in a S3. What a neat possibility.

Muskyz...

come fly a fighter Thursday night. It's difficult to set up a proper HO attack and yet a lot of fun.

as far as your suggestion, me thinks it is thumbing your nose at the aircraft table and the rules in general.
Look at it this way: you are one of the few who get to fly the 4 engine "fighters"!!

Was hoping to be there but not sure I can make it. Youngest has a wrestling dual so depends when I get home.

Fighter? In the first 3 series the buff's shot down 9 fighters, and I am expecting those were players gunning. We shoot down 3 per frame? Seriously? The otto is that bad? Why is it when I attack buff's they shoot down 80% (WTC) of attackers?

Again, I am just trying to think outside the box. The purpose of this series was to:

Quote:
S3#90 – Berlin By Daylight; Germany - March 1944

For the first time the USAAF targets Berlin by daylight. The mission is to draw the remaining Luftwaffe fighter strength up high over Germany and destroy it. The numbers of P51s has increased dramatically and they along with P47s will sweep the skies around the bombers and intercept incoming German fighters. Attacks on Berlin were sure to provoke the Luftwaffe so the stage was set for fierce duels across Western European skies.

where as it has turned into a see how many B17's the AX can shoot down. we can not protect the AI and the Human buffs, period. So lets do exactly what the event description says. Use the AI Buffs to get the AX in the air and use everyone else to try and destroy the Luftwaffe.

With Otto turned down so fricking low, we are not "fighting" anything. The buffs can't defend ourselves, all we can do is take the free AX attacks. The AX can attack the B17's with impunity.

I figured this is a crazy idea but according to the description, this would be the best way to fulfill the intent of the scenario. We can sure fly buff's again and end up with the same result as frame 4. The setup doesn't allow for anything different.

Salute!

I took a quick look at tgt 40 during gameplay, and three big buildings up. With point deficit so crappy, I do not believe it's worth finishing off.

Therefore......

My suggestion is to make it easy for our lites to get some action that results in kills. We whales will still be bait, but maybe we can get more gunners by flying less buffs as pilots. I know, it sucks. But at least we have human gunners. We can also tweak otto. So here's the way to do it, and we should try it Thursday nite.

+++++++++

Otto Commands
.OTTO PARAMS Displays the current settings for the otto. If online,
does not show settings which player cannot override
.
.OTTO [param] [value>] Allows the player to override an otto setting. If online,
only those parameters permitted by the arena OTTO_OVERRIDES setting can be changed.

When playing offline, the parameters set will apply to both
the autogunners in the player's plane and those in the AIcontrolled
planes.

.OTTO STATUS Displays the current status of each ottogunner

.OTTO SHUTUP Stops otto chatter

.OTTO TALK Resumes otto chatter

The .otto parameter command applies only to the otto on your FE. When you are online, the
host's "otto_overrides" setting determines which parameters you control, and which are set by
the host.

To display current settings:
".otto params"

To set accuracy level ( not available in S3):
".otto accuracy [level]" OR
".otto ac [level]"
Where [level] is from 1 - 10. Example ".otto ac 10" sets accuracy to highest level.

To set the range:
".otto range D[range]" OR
".otto rg D[range]"
Where [range] is from 1-12 ... don't forget to put the "D". Example: ".otto rg D10" sets range at which
otto will commence firing to D10.

To set the target refresh time:
".otto retarget_time [time]" OR
".otto rt [time]"
Where [time] is from 0-10 seconds. Example: ".otto rt 3.5" has otto look for new targets every 3.5 seconds.

To set the base burst period:
".otto burston_base [period]" OR
".otto b+ [period]"
Where [period] is from 0.5 - 4.0 seconds. Example: ".otto b+ 2.2" has otto burst for at most 2.2 seconds
before pausing.

To set the "max" burst period:
".otto burston_max [period]" OR
".otto b++ [period]"
Where [period] is from 0.5 - 4.0 seconds. Example: ".otto b++ 3.0" has otto burst for at most an additional
3.0 seconds when it is hitting the target.

To set the pause in between bursts:
".otto burstoff_base [period]" OR
".otto b- [period]"
Where [period] is from 0.5 - 4.0 seconds. Example: ".otto b- 1.0" has otto pause for at most 1 second in
between bursts.

In previous scenarios the Nomads would set medium length bursts and long ranges and short times before firing again , then turn otto on and off depending on the threats. Didn't worry much about HO's, so let otto on. For close bandits, otto ON.

Don't know a good route now for humans or robots.

Gums sends....

Yikes you guys are a tough crowd. I will have working orders up tonight to tweak as needed. Looking at asking JABO to send the AI towards 40 for the finish and we can go for the straight shot again but this time have the buffs turn around and head back just before feet dry, make the LW burn that fuel, press two fighter squads and make them chase for a few then send buffs back in with close escort hitting a City of the buffs choice that wont take us to deep. With this our fighters can stay over longer, buff dudes get to blow stuff up, and the fighters will have alt advantage once the LW refuel. Thoughts comments bashings all well accepted here. Throw it out there Guys. Lets have some fun this Frame! <S>

Target 40 IS the "closest" available target. IF a request was made to have the AIs hit any of the Targets 31-36 they just might get something by mistake. :)
