So, this is the final proposed buff route. If there are no further objections we can post this as final.

And the dtf:

we will need a lead, any takers? Hawk? Nofly?

BUFF ORDERS
MuskieZZ - You have buff lead. Route is the straight in variety. They know where we're going, so no real need to confuse them.

If possible, I would like to make it known that we are going straight in. The fewer of their airfields/cities that you fly over, the better. Makes it more difficult for them to dive out to a base if they are damaged and pursued.

You guys have your targets picked. Knock 'em all down!

ESCORT ORDERS
We did a pretty good job of keeping the buffs alive last week. However, it cost us just about every one of our fighters. Goal this week is to keep the bombers and the fighters alive.

4th and Knights - You have close escort this week. Your goal is to take the bombers all the way to Berlin.

352nd - I want to entice their strippers to hit us mid-channel again like they did last week. This time we'll be ready for them. 352nd is going light-ish fuel. Will discuss with Juice and Wolf further on our options, but I want to be at fighting weight when they show up. 85% fuel + DT's still gives us 180 minutes of flight time.

23rd - You're the wild card. With 108 gal DT's x2 you have 208 minutes of flight at full throttle. I would like to see you burn internal first down to about 70%. If the strippers show up and you find yourself in a position to take them down, please assist where able. If they don't show up when you're down to 70%, switch to external and keep going. If possible, please engage a squadron at a time or even wing pairs. Goal is to knock the strippers down so that they don't come back up after the buffs a second, third, or fourth time.

352nd = P-51B @ F107
4th = P-51B @ F106
23rd = P-47 @ F100
Knights = P-47 @ F108

Todd I will be leading the buff group tonight. Muskie is a possible late to no show but with all his prior work we will be okay.

All buffers.......tonight will be similar to last week with a few exceptions. Airplane is B-17G with either 500 or 1000 lbers. Weight is the same not sure on target punch power. The Fort is slower so it is VERY important we take off on time which will be T-20. Buff home base is the same: LAF110 spawn point 3. Fuel load is 55% and climb speed will be 160. I will roll at exactly T-20 using BST2 for initial roll and liftoff. At 1000 feet I will change to BST1 and hold that power setting for the entire climb. We will climb to 26k which will take us right at 45 minutes. WP-1 is the first turn to the east that will be at approx T+5. We should go feet wet at approx T+22 than level off just inside the LW radar close to the vertical 2 line at 26k at T+25. Once established in cruise I will back power to 95-96% to allow stragglers to form and the rest to tighten up. The BBD4.dtf file will be followed with the exception of needed tac turns which I will limit to 10 to 15 degrees off of the primary heading of v88 degrees.

I have not had a chance to review the targets yet but I will as the day progresses.

Pappy...I saw your question in the other thread about when to join. I will leave that to you to best judge your fuel issues but I would certainly feel better having you close about the time we level at 26k at the 2 line. The LW really shouldn't have time to react to us by then.

Recap:

B-17G
55% fuel
6000 lb loadout (500s or 1000s)
LAF-110 Spawn point 3
climb speed set to 160
throttles go forward at T-20 SHARP!!

Fighters the buffs will be making about 4 miles per minute in cruise so plan accordingly.

Oh and lets all use the same TS channel as last week. The UMM channel. I see no reason for a separate TAC channel but if others feel one is best we can certainly use one. I will be using CAPS just for quick reference and IDing and will do my best to announce turns inn the buffer as well as the TS channel.
