Overall Orders:

I won't be there nor do I want someone to act as CO during the frame in my absence. Each group has capable leadership and on scene judgment is best.

Strike the enemy targets listed.

Japanese Shipping, Port 58, Port 60, Village 31

Kill enemy strike aircraft IF found.

Protect friendly shipping.

Evade enemy fighter patrols.

Communicate but do not dictate.

Flexibility is the key to airpower.

Have a good frame, have fun and give 'em hell.


475th
Field 91/Field 81 Alternate

Primary target- Japanese Shipping Huon Gulf and Vitiaz Strait. Use 2 ship patrols to locate shipping and report all locations before attacking on Country Channel
Secondary target-Port 58


23rd
Field 81/ Field 91 Alternate

4th has P 39 frame 5.......how good are the canon against ships?

Night Stalkers are in P-39s this frame...

P-39 cannon takes many hits to destroy an AI freighter... a bomb and cannon to finish is preferred.

I think there is a critical spot to hit which would destroy it faster but I'm not sure. There was a post previously about where to shoot the ships (Engine room under the rear mast I think)

don't even bother with .50 & .30s unless you are hitting static ships, then you can strafe them down. (much easier than ai)

Sure. Secondary mission is to cover friendly ships if a strike mission isn't possible. Priority is all the other targets first though.

^^agreed 100%. Make sure you have your 37 mike on a seperate trigger from the MG's. You only get a few rounds so make 'em count...just don't get too close in...we lost a couple to the invisible masts last frame :?

Pay attention to Sasquatch's warning about the invisible ship mast! You need to fly as if that mast is 500 feet high or higher. Don't know why, doesn't matter. It is what it is... just know that you need to clear the mast (altitude wise) by a very high margin. No need to give the enemy points that they don't have to work for.

32 is marked closed on the Frame 5 map so I don't know the answer.

I guess check .fields at frame start and hit the one that is open(or both). Strike CO can make the call.
