Stupid question from a fighter jock: Is it "worth it" to stay NOE for the first 36 miles of a 124-mile trip? Following that first 36 miles the entire bomber flight will disappear from DAR for the remainder of the flight to the target. You WILL be going south, they KNOW that. With Donkey DAR, rafts, submarines, and sundry coast watchers in palm trees, it would seem like the initial climb-out may be more valuable than "staying off of DAR" and "assuming" that you won't get ratted-out. Inquiring minds are curious.

I tend to agree with Okami - use the 36 miles to get that extra 1.5km alt.

Ni Yen.

EDIT - I would add that NOE does not benefit the non-sneak attack. There are times when NOE would work, such as one series where the Allies used the NightStalkers in an NOE end-around against factories in Germany...OR the time TainanGeschwader took Ju88s and bombed a funeral at Westminster, killing a chitload of Royalty. NOE worked well there...primarily because we had NO expectations of fighter cover or support. An NOE raid here forces any support to give up an advantage we have in altitude.

If 80 is like 91, the red line will give us a better attack angel. Still, it might take 2 sorties but is doing able. I'll look at the base later today.

UMM were doing the NOE thing first sortie out of 66 because it's only a 10 mile run till out of that coastal watcher range. In reality we will also have to extend that time by another 5 minutes to get to about 22K feet.

So agreed, no need to run NOE

NE/SW Approx 223 degrees works pretty well for 80.

Quite a bit of assets and bigger than anything we have hit so far:

Parked Aircraft x 4, Huts x 4, House x 6, Fuel Dumps x 8
***Ammo Dumps x 8*** Hangers x 3, Radar EM x 1
88mm x 3, 40mm x 2, MG x 1

I agree Noflyz. I just looked at it and you're correct. It will take 2 sorties for sure.

Banzai!

I like the yellow line that attacks from the NE to have tgts all lined up. gang up on that dar EM and then concentrate on the hardest tgts at the base.

Hawk-san had a neat tgt assignment graphic last frame and another one would be nice for our coord.

Gotta try a run offline using sim settings.

Gum-san sends...

Gummy-san,

The denizens at AGW are asking about you again. I mentioned that you flew in this series.

Is there anyway to confirm what has to die for closure at the field. I'm sure like other S3's you didn't have to get all the gun positions to close a field. I am not sure of this. Maybe JABO could let us know for sure.

Noflys / Hawk .... I agree about getting to altitude rather than NOE. Just try to do it off radar as much as possible.

I will try to get the radar emitter destroyed long before you reach the perimeter of its range. (still looking for volunteers)

Here's the OT list for the Series:

Image Image Image

Any Object Target which has a first number of "1" is a Required Target. At any one location ALL Required Targets may not be present, but ALL Required Targets present must be taken down.

Example:
88Flack 001 --- Not Required target
HQ 101 --- Required Target
______________

Maybe you could send one of those high-dollar AI bombers after it. It would be a one way trip for any fighter.

Happy trails...
