Will keep updating this thread until final orders are posted - Last update 5/11

Throwing out some early plans here for critique.

* Routes to target will be posted in photos.
* The biggest threat to sortie 1 is if the IJN have a CAP at the 4,7 grid. Need a plan to counter it or simply re-launch some missions later.
* Basings are spread out to prevent a major "stuck in twr" scenario.
* All squads can re-locate if needed. Free fields are: NE: F80, F82. SW: F92, F93, F88
* Remember that the strike groups are responsible- and have permission for aborting their mission if they encounter high bandits en-route to target.
* We'll avoid combat initially unless locally numerically superior. If only a few steps come chasing after the 475th we'll lay a trap for them at sea with 4th as high-patrol.
* Not sure if we can somehow protect our B-25 Ai's, or would it be suicide?

475th
P-39D @ F81
Mission 1: 100% fuel, 500lb. Strike dock 40 at 2,8. Egress E/SE. 4th will be high cover near 5,7x for egress support.
Mission 2: Ai hunting/protecting around home bases. Can launch for ship strikes at 5,7 if you see opportunity. (or finish F40 if mission 1 failed).

23rd
P-39D @ F96
Mission 1: 100% fuel, 500lb. Hit the ships at 3,7 grid. If the area is compromised, hit ships at 5,7 instead.
Mission 2: 100% fuel + drops. Ai hunting at 3,3, & 3,4 locations, or 100% fuel with bombs to hunt ships at 5,7 if prefered.

AE
P-40E @ F79
Mission 1: 100% fuel, drop tank. RV with the NS at 7,5x. Escort them to F43 & F31. Finish any leftover buildings by strafing until base closes.
Mission 2: Do you want another escort mission of the NS to F28 at 4,9 or go ship/Ai hunting?

100th
P-40E @ F90
Mission 1: 100% fuel, 500lb. The red cloth to keep the bulls attention. Launch a (fake) strike at dock 67 at 2,3 grid. If unmolested drop bombs on target and egress back. If opposition shows, clear bombs and play cat n mouse, run S if they get close.
Mission 2: Either escort mission of NS to F28 at 4,9 or hunt Ai's coming to homebase area.

4th
P-40E @ F89
Mission 1: 100% fuel, drop tank. Climb towards the 5,6 grid. CAP it at 25k if possible (otherwise 20k). Provide egress support for the 475th or 23rd. If only a few steps of IJN fighters hunt them, cooperate with the p-39D's to lay a trap for the zeros and butcher them all out at sea.
Mission 2: Either Ai hunting/protecting or air superiority in cooperation with other squads. Do not engage the IJN unless numerically superior.

NS
B-25C @ F105
Mission 1: Close dock 43 & village 31 (32 on jabo's map) at 5,8. Egress east & south. You will have AE's as escort. RV at the 7,5x. Make sure ack is down so escort can strafe if needed.
Mission 2: Close Artillery 28 at 4,9. Egress E along top of map past F32 and then south suggested. 100th (or AE's) will escort. RV at 7,5x.

Cheers

Just a reminder for attacking ships:
AI moving shipping is invulnerable to .50s & .30s (must use bomb or 37mm)
STATIC shipping in ports CAN be strafed down. (they are just "targets")

If I can make the odds in my favour, I like rolling the dice and go for it. This is what I've planned so far, and is still subject to change. So far it's a spread out deep strike plan for sortie 1. All deep strike groups should be able to merge around 5,7x or 5,8x for mutual protection on egress. Sortie 2 would see a strike by the NS and either Ai/ship hunting or Ai protecting by the fighters. We will not attack their piloted buffs unless opportunity serves them on a platter without escort.

NS:
1st sortie: I'd like you to strike dock 43 and village 31 (32 on jabo's map) at the 5,8 grid for 23p. They are small, remote and easily closed. I can send you escort if requested, who will be able to strafe down any leftovers.
2nd sortie: I'd like you to either strike the ships at the 3,7 OR close artillery 28 at 4,9. I would suggest b-25's? Mission time to strike 43 & 31 from F105 & rtb is approximately 80 min. Gives you time for 2nd sortie to ships/F28. Input is welcome.

475th:
I figure you don't want an all shipping night this frame. How would you like to take your p-39Ds at first sortie to hit the dock 40 at 2,8? (2 acks, 4 buildings, 1 bridge). It's a spot they won't expect us to hit and it takes about 30 min to get there going the long sea-route. It's an easily closed base and the p39 outruns the A6M3 by 31 mph up to 10k, and outruns the ki43 up to 20k. Thus an egress E/SE should be possible then RTB. We got hidden DAR at 1,7 & 2,7 to warn you of inc. Subsequent sorties you could either hunt enemy Ai's or escort our b-25 Ai's? Input is welcome.

4th/AE/100th:
I'm thinking of either 4th OR AE/100th to hit the ships at 5,7 after the 475th has hit dock 40 and egressed, so they won't be surrounded by fighters already en route to protect the ships. The group not going for ships would make a fake strike at port 67 at 2,5. We have lots of dar at 1,7 & 2,5 & 2,7 to warn of any enemies. This strike is not to close anything but keep the enemy busy to buy manouver space and time for 475th, NS and ship strikers. Input is welcome.

23rd:
Still working on a plan. P39D's it is.

* I can't do any fuel tests until jabo enables flight & lives in the S3 arena.
* I'll ofc abort any mission if the enemy are to close by before bombs can be dropped. Let's leave the kamikaze to the japanese.
* Avoid getting caught in the twr if possible, we'll have plenty of bases your squad can relocate at.

You should be able to check fuel consumption off line by first selecting the S3 arena, then go to off line NG map. It will mirror the settings of the S3 arena.

Robert,

The 23rd was planning to use our allotment of Iron Dawgs this frame so we can save the Peter Four-Oh's for the final week.

Rgr P-39D's Sasquatch. Maybe you can initially strike the ships at 5,7 then and be Ai hunters remainder of the frame :).

That way I could have 2-3 steps of P-40E's high S of ships ready to move in if 475th need help egressing.

The enemy CO will probably run his buffs the sea-route off-dar to the 3,3 grid closing 81,82 etc.

P.S. Thanks bombr-, it worked :)
Fuel at 100% throttle:
P-39D: 82 min + 52 min droptank. (134 min tot)
P-40E: 89 min + 45 min droptank. (134 min tot)

Vulching over airfields is not as easy now. Terrain AAA has been cranked up, juice was a victim of it last frame and you will probably have a good number of anchored DDs offshore to run to. They throw up lots of flak but may be not as deadly as the smaller 40mm\20mm field ack.

Good plan, keep the enemy spread out and hunting you. Run and use the big wide ocean to the north and east. If you are going to cherry pick for points hit the static ships at ports, parked a/c at fields and any tanks at arty pos. Expect smaller units of scattered AI mbls as well as random lone boats crossing the sea. Hitting the AI shipping scored big in Frame 3.
