Orders for Frame #1

Squad Basing:
4th – F89 - P40's
23rd – F91 - P39's
475th – F103 - choice
AE – F105 - choice
100th – F96 – P39D
NS – F96 – P39D

Fighter CAP:

NW Squads
4th and 23rd – TAC 45. Cover Port Moresby. Stay in 1,2 grid and climb until DOT’s appear on DAR and then engage. The AX DAR covers most of the area north and east of the port.

Please provide someone on DAR, I will hopefully fly (since we have so few strike pilots). Also, please plan your rotation so we always have someone overhead. I am not really sure if that’s the best approach or not but that’s what Jabo recommended. I guess I would prefer to be up in force or not up at all, of course the problem with that is the AX can CAP our fields for the entire frame if we let them get overhead. Thoughts?

Sometime during the frame, I would like the pilots in the P39D’s to attack the static tanks at 77 and 78. Please mark the tanks before the frame! They are very hard to see when flying.

SE Squads
AE and 475th – TAC 40 - Pick Rides. Let me know if either of you want to use up a set of P39’s.

Again, please provide someone on DAR. Also, please plan your rotation so we always have someone overhead. You guys are going to need to cover grids 6,0 - 6,1 - 7,0 - 7,1. I would expect to see the Knights and UMM to show up there sooner or later as well as the AI attackers. Also, please keep an eye on 96. Jabo hasn’t said anything about it but the Knights might try to close that port because it gives us an end-a-round base.

IF any of you decide to use the P39 and if things get slow, feel free to attack static ships at 83, 70 or 69 (there are 2 at each) or look for the shipping at 4,4. All of these areas are on AX DAR so you need to stay low or don’t go there.

Strike Mission:

I know we are supposed to play defensive but the statics ships just sitting there waiting to be shot is way too tempting.

100th and NS – TAC 35 - NOE strike shipping at P60 (8 boats) and F62 (4 boats) and any AI shipping in 3,7. I am assuming the 100th will supply some fighter cover but there will be enough ships for everyone. Get in quick and get out. I am assuming that there will be very little AX cover that far north, maybe 1 step, so hopefully this isn’t another suicide mission. There are a few deadly guns (40mm, 20mm and MG) so may want to bring ord. to take them out 1st. Dew and Cool can plan the attack.

After the 1st strike on the ships, the 100th and the NS can decide if they want to go back or help defend the south and attack AI planes.

I didn't understand the DAR replies for the watchposts, we may have DAR on them or we may be getting Jabo reports.
In case the DAR is hidden and I couldn't find it I included the watchposts on this dtf file if anyone wants it.

Pretty much the same orders as the preliminary. Good luck all!

P-40Es for 475th.

Two flights of 4 hopefully. One will try to climb above 20 (HA!) sans droptank, the other will be droptank and below them.

If the bombers come in above 25...we can't touch em.

Zekes will dive with you...just have to roll...pull slightly..roll the other way....and then extend out.

Zekes own you at altitude. Zekes own you in turn fights all alt.....you can turn one 360 and then you have to Sir Robin it out of there. Wingman is your friend....6 x 50s are your friend. Guys may think I'm crazy but conv at 500 works petty damn good. Reach out and touch them and smack em hard up close..

This will not be a fight where we go hunting...I'm not sure how we stop them from closing fields....they can bomb with impunity from alt. G4M1 climbed at 400-500fpm from 25k to 29k...with bomb load and 25% fuel. I'm not sure a P-40 will make 29k:)

Communication and team work.

Hey 100th..................How do you guys wanna play this? I'm thinking NS will plan one attack at one location per sortie. We'll hit 62 first which is 132 miles from 96. Fuel should not be a problem however I need to know how you want to position yourselves? I would like to limit time on dar as much as possible so we can begin passes on the boats. We don't know how long we will need over the target since it takes so much damage now to kill anything. :x

From a cover perspective do you want alt before you reach the docks or do you want to climb once we reach there? Lets discuss!

Hey all.

I am going to miss the frame tonight! I am terribly sorry but I am stuck in msp waiting for a delayed flight. I will be in the air the entire frame. I was suppose to be at my destination over 2 hours before the frame so thought I would be good.

I asked Dew or Cool to cover for me so push any questions to them. I don't expect many questions since we arnt doing much. Fighters fight & the 100th work with the Night Stalkers

Good luck everyone and I am very sorry. This sucks.

Mt Dew I want to look at the dar coverage first, I will post back here and/or text to you on Tac 35 once we get into the arena.

Coastwatchers act like regular allied radar and cannot be attacked by the IJ. So if you plan on hitting fields near a coastwatcher you have radar there to spot any enemy cover/buildup.

G4M1 cannot get above 30k so it may be a function of swatting the few guys that dont hold formation and diving out of there. AI G4M1s will be at lower alts so bang away at them. Watch their otto though dont saddle up on them play it just like offline bomber ambush mode. Come in on a vic dead 6 and you will be dead. Those are 20mms in the tails.

Okay I figured it out. We have radar at F59 and they have radar at F62 located north northwest of the hangers on the side of a hill. The dar was tricky to spot because it doesn't respond to a .grndlabel command, apparently it was added as a terrain object for this series. The radar coverage from F62 extends almost 20 miles out into the ocean so we can't get very close to you without showing up on dar and ratting you out if we try to cover you at alt. There is plenty of ack so going NOE and then trying to pop up in a heavy P39 is likely to be fatal. My suggestion would be that we take the whole package in high, drop the radar at F62, drop some acks if we have ord left, rtb, go back, finish the acks and then get to work on the scoring targets. So long as our radar at F59 holds up or we station some guys southwest to spot incoming bandits if they take down the radar at F59 we should be able to avoid losses to the IJ CAP.

We don't have to worry about our fuel range, apparently the fuel burn rate or fuel tank sizes have been adjusted. The P39D gets 82 minutes at 100% throttle with full fuel after the .75 fuel modifier. Adding the drop tank extends that to 134 minutes. The numbers for the P40E are 89 and 134 minutes and for the A6M3 they are 112 and 189 minutes.
