Fighter reduction of the LW is essential if the Swordfish are to have any chance, also 23rd and RCAF can do some strikes after fighter reduction.

352nd which Hurri are you flying? I'll look at some strike options for those two squadrons.

The 352nd will be in Hurricane IIB aircraft. Most of our pilots have found that they can do more damage with the aircraft's available gun package than they can do if they carry bombs for the same task. Once local AAA equipment is dealt with, targets (with the exception of tanks) go down rather easily. IMHO "going back" is always the problem. Target selection should be limited to targets that can be taken out with ord available on any one visit. While bridges are required for "field closure" each of the bridges brings home it's own points whether the "base" closes or not. Bridges are strafable. We will likely need 4 steps of basing for Frame 5.

Happy trails...

Just a thought here, we are on fighter suppression early in the frame, but we might confuse them a bit if we do this at T+0.

23rd, based at 138, could take a strike package to 117 and hit it before any support could arrive from any other base, then pull out and gain alt for fighter suppression. ;)

Darryl I think you're bitting off to much of the apple, flying swordfish. Do you realize how easily you are spotted over water, what the radar coverage is to the west, and the time needed to fly that route? Please rethink your plan, or better justification for an attack that deep into LW country. I don't like the idea of trying to protect the DR that long on enemy dar, and then we have to go south after the attack. Darry give me some other options?

I don't know what you are referring to, WILZ. All I said was that we'd be sticking together and wanted to hit something small because we have to use the Swordfish in the last frame. I didn't stipulate any specific target. Please give me something that we can either take down in one sortie, or put me close enough to it that we can do it in multiple sorties. These Swordfish are not carrying huge loadout and I may not have many of them.

What about bridges?

I just realized that we still own the seaplane base 155. It is about 60 miles east of 136, which is 50 miles from the closest Axis Field 132 (90 is a bit closer, but they probably will not be that far from the front. 155 is in the no ground attack zone so even if the Axis figure out where they came from, they cannot close the base. There are plenty of targets there for 3 * 500lb bombs. Might be worth a try. ;)

Do you think you can get someone to knock out the guns at one of those locations?
