It's frame 3 and we are, apparently, needing to push the enemy line back northward while picking up a lot of points. I would highly suggest that we score big in both of those areas. We can't afford to let them have another frame like the last one. We need a plan that will bring us more than 50 points.

Once again, we should have respected the "holiday" weekend in the USA during scheduling. We were down about 20 pilots that the S3 planners were expecting. Remember, Mother's Day? People do other things during the Memorial Day 3-day weekend.

It's late afternoon on Friday night now on the East coast. While I agree with the sentiments regarding Memorial Day weekend, it's now in the past and we need to go forward. The 23rd and I believe the 352nd have 1 more frame of Hurri IIb's which are pretty good for early war planes, but can't even carry the ord. load of a swordfish. We KNOW that the front will move and we will be even more compressed. You bomber guys are the ones that can bring us some points...I think dewolf is asking "What looks doable this frame?"

Swede wants to blow up something, so we can take the Hurri IIb based at either 117 if we are going after 86 (we would be closest unless they base someone there) or 138 if we are going after 113. Deak is tasked with an assessment of the feasibility at 113. Swede or I will update by Saturday Afternoon.

Thanks, your Beaverness:
F-113 has TWO associated bridges. The most northern of the two has TWO spans.

F-113 Northern Bridge profile.

So, F-113 is a Village with Base. It is "worth" (4) points IF ALL of the targets can be flattened. IF all of the Village targets are taken out, BOTH bridges are "associated" targets. It would seem that in order to get the Village points, BOTH of the bridges would have to be taken out as well. Since bridges are "listed separately" in the Score Box, POSSIBLY it would be the case that an additional (6) points would be added to the whole (4) points that the village is "worth" for a total of (10 ) points for the package. Again, with the separate listing for "bridges", and since we have not seen a score as yet, it is difficult to tell if you get ANY POINTS for the bridges IF the target with which they are associated is not taken out.

Thanks to RCAF 127 for looking into the feasibility of attacking this target. Please keep in mind that the most-northern of the two bridges is both very near enemy bases AND on the way to targets on our side of the Front for their aircraft.

Preliminary Orders

Pending confirmation of West Coastal opportunities by the RCAF....

Expect mainly Combat Air Patrols by everyone but the RCAF and the DRS. With those exceptions, the Frame is predominantly defensive in planning. Both of those Squads will have "forward basing" and should expect to relocate to the MOB following their first sortie. It must be successful as going back is not, likely, a possibility. CAP Squads will likely be instructed that IF they see targets of opportunity, AND have selected airplanes to fulfill that opportunity, that they are welcome to go for anything they like. All pure fighter aircraft early in the Frame may give us an idea of how much attrition has been achieved may give us an opportunity to utilize jabo and strafe aircraft on subsequent sorties. Please select targets that are "100% doable" with the resources available to you at the time. CAP zones may overlap in the "middle" where there seem to be a lot of targets. Mutual support is encouraged. Be aware that some raids may be planned by the enemy on opposite sides of the map in an attempt to get all of our fighter aircraft concentrated in one area.

DRS assist with the RCAF targets, if necessary. Pick-up F-115 on the way in, if possible. If the RCAF can achieve success on their own, investigate targets from your alternate selected field to the NE where action is likely to be minimal. Sweep escort will be available. Direct escort is not possible with the resources available.

Anticipate that each Squad will choose their rides from their remaining inventory.

The object of this Frame is to initially protect a lot of resources that are very near the Front, and then later in the Frame to exploit any advantage that we may gain.

COs and Flight Planners are welcome to critique or suggest alternates until these become Final Orders.

As I have already stated, I would like to hit 125 and 124 from 132 using the B25C. I have the recon on them and they will go down fairly quickly. After that, there is 86, which also does not have very many targets. The only thing I am insisting on is that we have fighter cover that is dedicated to us. Otherwise, it will be a repeat of frame 2.

DRs: Please give numbers for an attack on F-125 and F-124 to occur between T+140 and T+160 from your selected alternate field. Please figure the numbers for a trip from the MOB if the RCAF needs your assistance early in the Frame.

They would only need to rebase if 117 is closed, though I would be surprised if it wasn't.

Bridge spans count as points regardless if you close your target or not. The bridges are strafable, even with my mediocore shooting, I could put a span down with less than 50% from a Hurri Ia (8 guns), it should take less with 12 guns.

I think the bombs will be useful on 113 so we will be carrying them. (unless we get a revolt from the masses, they haven't answered except that they will be there). ;)

RCAF 127 Wing will go 138 to 113, we may need a few bombs from the DR's.

First Sortie - Bomb the Ack, left over bombs on the village and strafe down the bridges, then come back to see what is left.

Beaver:
IF you can't close F-113 on the first visit----don't go back would be my suggestion. There are too many enemy airplanes based in the close proximity to that field and you are your only cover. The original "theme" was to select targets "doable" in one visit.

There is 1 bridge north of the target, we will strafe it then on the way back south we will see what is left and try to strafe it down.
