Beaver, a few of the 23rd FG went into the S3 arena to test the settings. #1. even with LOD turned way up it's hard to spot the ack, usually by the time you see it you're loosing parts or PK'd. #2. Diving in a Hurri IIB need to really be careful with speed it doesn't dive well, so you end up dropping bombs off target with poor results. #3. Ack is deadly under 5K. #4. defused bombs go through bridges and expload under it causing no damage. #5. Bridges, carriers and tanks can be straffed down with 303's..........if you eliminate the ack first.
Overall thoughts: if the ack can be eliminated without the loss of to many Hurri's the rest can be straffed down. Still trying to figure out how to kill the ack without loosing so many aircraft the points for losses exceeds the target points.

Good testing wilz. We are trying to turn the low calibre ack down a bit. Seems way too deadly. At least you can see the 40mm coming for you. Large flak 88 and above seems too weak, just puff balls to give away location. I think sleepy is testing in MA as well. The idea is to have it deadly to hang around down low below 4,000ft but not suicide.

I elected to follow-up on Wilz testing. As F-54 was close to the front, it seemed a likely target. I was able to take out both 20 mms and an additional two trucks prior to running out of ammo. Settings are changing from when the terrain was released. Currently, none of the GVs are returning fire.

Dewolf, from what I saw, it's only the ack that shoots at you. Tanks were labeled as "weapon" and trucks were labeled as "carriers", wouldn't expect them to shoot back. Hope you are right about the ack, but the 20mm's I came into contact with were very accurate. I did strage a 20mm down, but lost some parts (specifically the rudder) and was having a hard time hitting anything after that. Bombing was frustrating since the Hurri II compresses too quickly and trying to drop from a safe altitude was useless, with the small bombs. With guns down it was a pass or two to kill just about everything else.

Jabo is switching the settings on the AAA on Saturday, please test it again. I am on the road all day Saturday so I am hoping you can get some testing done after the change.

Thanks Dewolf and Wilz for what you have already done. ;)

Things were a bit different when the Arena first opened-up. I "thought" that there were both "tanks" and at least one truck that were labeled "weapon". I assumed that the truck was mobile AAA. It is not there at this time. In my test, I was a single aircraft with no others to attract the fire of the 20mms. I was able to get both of them, and then go to work on the GVs with no opposition at all. I found that the nearby bridge had no protective guns. At most of these bases, the bridge is an associated target. You have to get all required targets to get the field.

Magic.

Well, actually
Enter the S3 Arena, and enter the PW.
Exit the Arena
Go to Free Flight
Select the Appropriate terrain.
Viola
If you select "CM Eye" you can look around on any field of any color.
If you select ground labels you see the icons of all of the terrain features.

ah, I thought it was in-game.

Any changes need to be asked for today. When we get to the hotel tonight I will finalize them. The bombers have a thread for their run into 55 also. :)
