S3#87 – Heroes of Greece; Greece - April 1941

Greece is at war with Italy and has battled her to a stalemate in Albania but El Duce's friend has ordered in the panzers to get rid of the Balkan question. Britain regardless of any practical questions must help the birthplace of democracy and sends aid from its North African front. The stage is set for another long bloody retreat and battles across Mediterranean skies.

This is a tactical game with attacks on ground locations to score points and move the frontlines. The first series in the new Greece terrain which has many different types of targets and will prove a challenge to master.

Series starts Sunday May 18 at 830pm Eastern\530pm Pacific in the S3 arena.

http://www.squadselectseries.com for rules and map.

Just finishing off the Greece Terrain, it should be a mandatory update in the S3 arena tomorrow.

Salute!

From an old WB flier, I would like to see more of the "capture the flag" and not gain and lose outposts, bases, etc. from frame to frame.

With the delays we now have had for last series or two, it is hard to plan anything until a day to go. Whereas, the buffer and the Phenix stats show closures usually by Tuesday night.

Need comments from others, PLZ.

Something similar was done with a hypothetical invasion of Britain. Having limited troopers kept silliness in check. It was a fun series for something different but it was as bout as close to Main Arena garbage I want to experience in a mission oriented S3.

IMO the front should change in the manner it did historically for the scenario we are playing or how jabo sees fit in some way arbitrary to air action because it is the ground troops who capture territory, not how much a target gets flattened. I would like to see more automated ground activity to provide CAS and give a better measurement of front movement. For instance one side will be notified their army is going to make a push for "Objective A" the success of that determines the front.

Hi Jabo:

I was just looking over the rules and I see no points for bridges, unless they are on the summary table which is not up. Do y ou use bridges to slow enemy advance, limiting them to routes where they can cross the rivers?

Still working on those Beaver but the Allies will get points for destroying bridges while the axis will not.

Salute!

Geeee. Thanks, Beaver.

We kinda had our hearts set on blowing up bridges to keep Allies from crossing back over toward our advancing front.

Sheesh.

Axis have a much stronger set of ground attack a/c than the allies as well as a numbers advantage. They need to close the locations that offer the most points with the least work. Its blitzkrieg in action.

Allies get points for bridge spans and enemy GVs destroyed. They need to slow the panzers advance and stabalize the various defensive lines.

Both sides cannot be careless with their airframes or pilots. All losses are counted and deaths are worse for your side than if you parachute or ditch. So fly smart and try and survive, if not in an airframe then in a chute.
