you can check otto settings in both arenas by looking at .show.
but for your benefit
ma settings
OTTO_RANGE,8
OTTO_BURSTON_BASE,1.000000
OTTO_BURSTON_MAX,2.000000
OTTO_BURSTOFF_BASE,2.000000
OTTO_RETARGET_TIME,3.000000
OTTO_ACQUIRE_RANGE,10560

s3 settings
OTTO_RANGE,8
OTTO_BURSTON_BASE,4.000000
OTTO_BURSTON_MAX,4.000000
OTTO_BURSTOFF_BASE,1.000000
OTTO_RETARGET_TIME,1.000000
OTTO_ACQUIRE_RANGE,9000

burston base determines the length of a burst. Inverse to target distance so burst length increases as target gets nearer. Increasing this value increases the volume of fire
burston max....works with above parameter in determining length by factoring in hit ratio, so that as hits are achieved burst time is increased. IN creasing this value increases the chances of inflicting damage.
Burstoff base....determines the length of pause in between bursts. Proportinal to target distance so pause decreases with range.
retarget time...determines frequency at which otto will look for new targets.
As you can see burston base is 4 times that from the MA
burston max is double that of main
burstoff base is 3 times that of main as well as retarget time.
These can all be found in .show or you may look them up in the help column under dot commands.
Hope this helps

Timos

Right now I think the CVs are to far away from land to help out. I put the 23rd on one and not sure the grid where it will be at. I'll see where we can base you. I know I am concentrating our forces, I just hope I am not leaving the islands open for attack because for the most part they are undefended.

Sleepy

Thanks for the information and that brings up more questions why our guns did nothing or how can shoot us down at D10. Still, knowing what we experience, the Betty won't be used by use again.

Just going to toss this out...

Angular cut off gives impression of superior speed, diving down a little at altitude to pick up speed will generate closure for a short period of time, but even with WEP the F4F was outrun by all the zekes that I engaged.

Here is an example of getting left in the dust "WITH" angular cut off....

if you look under the S3 Playlist on my channel, you can see all of the S3 vids I posted. I missed Frame 2 due to son being at South Eastern Championships for swimming, so I can't comment on what the specific situation above was.....

Dobs

PS as far as the guns go in the zeke my observations are that it pulls G's so well, and that combined with the low velocity cannons, makes gunnery while under G a bitch.

Oh and icon range was at d5 for enemy correct?

Sorry...edits are trying to get youtube tags to work...I failed.

After full fuel take off and 25 miles out.....
At 305º angle, 150 climb speed, 13,700ft, observed 15+ possible bandits heading what seemed to be 100º off my 10 o'clock. Inquired as to buffs our area without response.
At approximatly one mile did level right turn for intercept at approximately 010º.
Started experimenting with speeds and zooms while determining possible target and escort count. After 10 mile chase determined that I had to not go below 220 mph indicated to approach. Selected middle left center element as I was now in direct pursuit and achieved approximately D25 to D20 and steady closure of about 100 yards every 25 seconds.
Deployed elements to my right and left to cut off any turn from target. Elements behind stated sighting of 2 escort and approx 18k plus.
Continued zoom and climb inside 220mph minimum to a maximum achieved of 257mph in 3 to 5º descents. Found that at 235mph indicated could gain approx 100yards every 20 seconds.
At this time calculated that we would be unable to intercept before target hit, this being nearly 60 miles or more from initial contact. A very long pursuit.

Escort #1 sighted and he attempted a 10º left off angle and single curve right and I determined to maintain speed and angle as my wing and second element attacked con. Con climbed back up and attempted another during long pursuit. Had one opportunity beyond D3 to ping con with bank 1 guns for 1/2 second burst.

At or around target area drop was observed, I attempted to fire for range and observed strikes but too far for effect. During this experiment 20mm fire from approx D10 took my flaps. I informed the group to not pursue direct 6 and to be approx 10º plus off center and 10º plus low inside D8 minus to avoid full deflection from tail 20mm.

Just after drop the rear most buff went icon. Knowing this was approx D5 I waited for range and at D3 (my preferred being D2) but having been in pursuit for nearly 15 minutes was loosing last of WEP and had to attack. Selecting the left wing root and engine I fired all weapons at D3 for approx 1 second and observed oil loss. At this point fired another 1/2 second and saw the left wing come off. Ammo used approx 25% of total.
At this time the center to left elements buff started a standard rate left turn putting at least 6 buffs inside my curve and I was able to close inside D2 on another buff and have 10º low and 30º off angle left with 210 mph indicated, this giving me the left engine, cockpit, and root at near point blank. Fired approx 1 second burst concentrated in root and saw aircraft blow apart. Approx 15% ammo used. Standard rate turn still in effect another buff flew in exactly the same manner into my curve and I hit it in the same manner with the same effect. Approx 15% ammo used.

At this point the turn out brought most of the group into firing range and they attacked as could. The buffs started a slight bubble descent and gain speed well. Knowing we could not keep up and having lost WEP I selected one to the right and angling approx 285º I could get no closer than D4 and fired left wing to rear fuselage. Observing fuel leak I was now down to 20/30% on banks ammo (approx 1/4 second full bank fire). Nearing D4 to D5 I fired all weapons on left wing root and saw the left wing depart. Approx 35% ammo used.

It appeared at this time that escort numbered 3 or so and I then started to become concerned with fuel state for rtb, I also had 10% in one bank ammo left and called for pursuit of remaining buff but rtb for low ammo in case a reception escort came. Buff egress angle was less than 40º off rtb angle so we could use rest of ammo for departure.

Cycled for sortie 3.

Juice and Dobs,

Thank you for the outstanding blow by blow and this explaines why you guys are awesome at what you do!

Still think the Betty guns suck though. LOL
