You need to hit the best targets with your ord. There is no advantage other than not allowing a base to the enemy of closure. Infact its probably best not to close a base with lots of shipping so it can be attacked throughout the series for those high profile targets. At Guadacanal you should be hitting the ports and stacked ammo boxes and ships offshore. Drop a few bombs on the parked a/c at the main fields too.

Hawk, what was your True Ground Speed when the Wildcats were able to climb and catch you?

Beaver,

I just reviewed the acmcan and it doesn't record TGS sadly. I did notice that they were hitting us at D10 with deadly precision if anyone thinks is is right is fooling themselves. If anyone thinks that there is nothing wrong here is crazy and won't admit there is something seriously wrong here. Our guns did NOTHING!!!!!!

We merged with the 352nd pretty much head on and we were 5K or more above them on the merge.
They reversed and started chasing us.
I was flying just above the last of our bombers in the group trying to cover.
There was one F4 that was ahead and higher than the rest of the 352. It was Juice.
He had a steady stream of fire aimed at me for quite a while, and was pinging me a lot outside distance icon range.
As he got to where I thought he'd be a threat to the bombers I made a run at him to scare him off.
He broke right and it worked for a few seconds. I got embedded back in to the bombers and he started doing same thing.

My question is: How can one F4 constantly shoot at me, then knock down 4 bombers?

Is the Betty that brittle? Does the F4 have an unlimited supply of ammo?

Seemed to me something is off with the settings.

During WW2 the allies had another nickname for the Betty, it was called "flying Zippo" after the lighter, because it was stripped down, no self sealing gas tanks to increase the speed and range of the bomber it did not take much to set it aflame. It probably worked well in the China theater 38 to 40 with little opposition,
If you reviewed the acm utube thingy on the main forum notice the speed of the Wildcat, I think it was something like 292 mph. Pretty fast.
20 MM on the Betty should destroy anything dumb enough to climb up the six, provided that they haven't blown you up before that. Aim above the target, as with any Japanese plane the bullets tend to drop rather fast, must be rice powder instead of gun powder.

thx for the explanation swede-

And yes, I forgot to mention...

ALL the kills they had on the Bettys was from a low 6 position and trailing behind, barely creeping up. No boom and zooms.

20mm had Zero effect. Both otto and manned.

Could be an issue or not. How many fly the Betty in the MA?
Weapon and plane settings are the same and otto is probably even better than in the MA.
With a bufftuff of only 1 its pretty fragile but is relatively stronger than the SBDs or TBDs.

<S> Swanee,
he was probably only firing 1 set of guns at you and 1 at the Bettys.

Wildcats have been reversing, climbing, and closing on higher planes in WB as long as I can remember. Betty can take pings but not a short concentrated burst.

<S> Swede, spot on

20mm gun in betty's tail is the same as the zekes. The betty's damage model is real close to same as some heinkel/ju 88 stuff, weaker than a b-25 but not over so. Otto is better in s3 than MA. With new seconadary damage settings and a rewrite of damage models, todays buff tuff of 1 is about equal to the old buff tuff setting of 2.

I question this seeing how none of guys did a thing to those F4Fs. Hitting us with ease at D10 is even more silly and makes the Betty a worthless plane to fly. We won't be using it for the duration of this series.

Hawk,
this being a low visibility frame, maybe you guys could base some CV and some land and sneak around in smaller groups? Hit a real wide array of targets , only going into the ones we will have friendly fighters nearby. I know the knights are king of NOE attacks, could be worth a shot
