Allied traded in their B24's and P38's for B17's and P51's for a deep penetration strike to Berlin. They destroyed 38 targets and only lost 1 bomber to enemy fighters. However, with Allied resources stretched there and back, the low countries were left unprotected. Ju88's would out destroy their counterparts, blowing up 43 targets and closing bases. 109's and 190's frustrated with not being able to shoot down large numbers of escorts went to work on destroying air frames as they sat on the runway or ran supply routes. 36 various Allied planes were lost in this manner. 109's ended up with high losses due to the low action, but Göring was pleased with the results and hoped it would help stem the tide of daylight bombers. P51's though kept him concerned with their 34 kills for only 15 lost.
