I hear ya Coolon and yes what you say makes sense. I just know that 2x500#ers does more damage than one 1,000#. Of course they have to be on target tho. IF the target is thin left to right then maybe use line abreast as well? Instead of using trail on a long target (not left to right but long in the direction you are headed) I typically will use minimum ladder formation which puts the ai bombers even closer to you.
I just left the S3 arena testing 1000#ers. Unfortunately after flying clear the hell over to 34 port (I think, didn't want to leave evidence of hitting 61) my bombsight was doing the ole drop later than what was shown. My bombs all fell long when infact I dropped right on the target. I hate it when the bombsight does that... is it random, cause it usually doesn't affect me?
Take whatever the pilot believes will do the best job!
