In frame 5 the IJA had clear air superiority over Singapore, but many of her aircraft (9 fighters and 3 bombers) fell to British AA gunners.
The Commonwealth Air Forces, assist by the Dutch, trusted the Army to withstand the IJAAS blows, conducted a series of attacks against Japanese shipping and other transportation targets to slow the Axis advance. These efforts were hugely successful, sinking 17 enemy ships, 4 bridges and fuel dumps, but not without serious losses and the closure of two airfields at Singapore.

Frame 5 Score
Allies: 128.5 pts
Axis: 75.0 pts

First three frames were neck-and-neck, with frame 4 giving the axis what was thought to be a major victory. Massive losses of axis shipping in frame 5 severely hampered the IJA advance. The 22 Army, short of supplies and ammunition, was found wanting at the gates of Singapore.

Series Total
Allies: 505.5
Axis: 486.5

Allied victory in defeat. Malaya still fell.

Well fought, all!
