The Group was tasked with dual responsibilities at Frame start. We were to have two different missions. First was to interdict any enemy aircraft observed to be entering friendly airspace, second was a separate sortie to escort the buff group coming in from England. As predicted, part 1 took "a little longer than expected", and part 2 had to circle once to allow their escorts to pick them up. Following that, it was a running battle until our fighters had consumed all available fuel and had to RTB. With the able assistance of a Squadron of the 4th FG, we were able to get to buffs to three different targets. They were able to dispatch all of them.
