S3 Series

4th had about 16 pilots for the mission assigned.
We were based at L 26, but after a discussion with high command, I decided to
split the squadrons to cover L 26, T 35 and T 36. All launched at T+0 to cover their assigned areas.
334th was at L 26 and spotted bombers near the shipping area around 26 and attacked. It became
clear they would need help and ccajun called for it. I had the entire 4th return to L 26 post haste to
cover the 334th. We found a few 109s, but no buffs. The 334th and 335th,who got there first had
dispached all but 2 109s and the last buff escaped to NE. Lost pappyb in the fight on the deck
when he clipped a hill with his wing trying to line up a shot.
While we chased more ship strikers, L26 was closed and we had to RTB for ammo and fuel.
The rest of the night was a "cat and mouse" game, but no more damage was seen in our
district.
We scored about 6-8 kills for 3 losses, and 2 LW got safe ditches near C 29.

Y'all did a great job, sir. It seems the conversation we had about them going crazy on the ground targets was right on the money. Looks like y'all wiped them out and they couldn't come back in force. Congrats on all the kills.
