There are 4 Mission targets, 2 Avionics and 2 ballbearing Factories.

If you think we do not have enough bombs, we should not hit the Ballbearing factory East of Berlin as that one has almost double the targets of the others... It remains in our orders, but I think being sure to destroy 3 out of 4 is better than trying to get them all and failing.

Or we just go after the avionics factories. That would keep our targets together somewhat. Just make sure we knock the hell out of them so we get 2 mission targets destroyed.

Recon.

Agents working undercover and at great risk to themselves have smuggled out photographs of Enemy Jet aircraft.

There has been an increase in activity near 3 airfields in Berlin. Airfields, 63, 91 and 93. One or all could be the base(s) for the new fighters.
Intelligence has picked up radio communications regarding a new Luftwaffe squad called Jagdverband 44. We believe this is the squad of the newly formed expert pilots. Looks like they not only have superior planes, but experienced pilots will be flying them.

Recon;

Rumors of the rocket plane are true. We still have not been able to pinpoint the airfield at which they are located, however given the short duration of flight time these rocket planes have, we can guess that they will be based near as possible to Berlin.

I ran Boost 1 as much as I could to reduce fuel weight. I got to 26.8K at T-60 with climb speed 150 IAS, B17, 12 500lb Bombs.

I agree about reducing the targets. The East Bearing Factories is too much, 36 objects. The others give us the same points with less bombs.

If the East Bearing Factories are not on the target list then the IP for the East Avionics Factories should be moved to due north of that target.

Ohshix, yes something similar.

only thing I was thinking was some lines on the map... perhaps a few markers to easily say passing point BRAVO....

all those time hacks are scattered on the map without a path line... there is way too much going on on that map to quickly find things. I have a hard time on that plain map just finding my location arrow. :)

but YES that is what I was thinking. that way fighters can more easily find the "road"

all this extra work makes things much easier in the pilot seat, I applaud your time and efforts!!

We just need to find a way to get the info to Darryl... as I dont believe he looks at these boards. I have emailed him things in the past but it never seems to find its way to him.

also... I remember those factory buildings to be pretty tough... some took multiple 1000 lb bombs to take down. but that was long ago....

Frame 3 Analytics:

Issues that must be address: Bombers
    Bomber groups and their individual elements must maintain formational integrity. Wandering ducks get eaten first
    All Bomber pilots must remember to logon using the Enhanced Wingman Log
    All Bomber pilots must be proficient in transfer between planes during flight. This should be practiced prior to Frame T-0

Issues that must be addressed: All pilots
    Flights must gain altitudes of 30 K or better.
    Covering a/c should be operating at altitudes of 34K plus.

Gentlemen,

Based on this, I have decided to open this frame with an all out combined group of bombers and fighter cover. I am waiting on some research into the possibilities of the B-17s achieving altitudes of 30-32K before reaching enemy air space. Fighter groups must reach 34-37K (dependent on squadron assigned Alt) on or before rendezvous with the bombers. Fighter squadrons will be assigned altitude coverages and assignments. Each squadron should be ready to assign 262 bird dogs. Juice recommended a diligent effort to chase them out of the fight by forcing them to exhaust fuel and then burn their Hinnies. Two fighter bird dogs elements per 262 was suggested. However, if they hit us with 6 of them at once, the lose of 12 fighters means we could still have a dozen of more out there waiting for our forces to become thinner. We could easily have a mixed dozen of 109x and 190s. That would not be my best scenario for the situation. However the situation develops, we can't let them scatter the bombers early in the fight. We MUST make them play our game and run the gauntlet through our fighters to get to the bombers and them another gauntlet of 50 cals. from the Big Boys turrets.

Phillip, I would like the Raiders to plot the best possible course to 2 of the suggested targets. I hope SHAEF does not ask for all the fields listed because we may end up just skinning them and not destroying them. I would rather have a Maximum Effort be completed with maximum bomb loads. I have not been able to contact Darryl and hope you have connection with him. I would like that course posted in here by Saturday night.

Nooky, how many targets do you think SHAEF will ask for this mission?

Fighter Assignments:
352 FG: High Cover 37K
4th FG: Mid Level 3 to 4K above Bomber Group
23rd: You have your choice to join with the bombers or fly fighter cover. If a member chooses bombers then he can be assimilated into bomber group. If they want to fly fighters I would like them to fly inside the bomber formation. 4th, you might need to add one of your elements to fly just above or in the bombers.

Fighter Group commanders I would like to have any suggestions or information before Saturday, if possible, that might be needed to assure success.

Last but not in the least, What targets, How many can we destroy in the time and in the quantity we have? I am suggestion 2 with a 3rd if you all think it possible.

(You will have to forgive me for timetables and authoritative demeanor in this but I was a teacher and herded singing cats for over 30 years. It does something to you. :lol: :twisted: :shock: )
