I found it takes two 2000lb bombs to take out a sub pen object or four 500lb bombs.

500lb bombs gives more bang per pound. Very interesting!

ATTENTION!

There have been reports of the P-51D model having structural wing failures due to control stick reversal in high-speed dives.

Ground crews are busy adding a bobweight to the elevator control system to fix this problem.

As a result, The P-51D has been grounded for the beginning of frame 3. Pilots are instructed to fly the P-47D as the main fighter in Frame 3 (1st sortie) . You may use the P-51D model as your 2nd plane as your ground crew should have the modification completed by then.

That is all.

Not quite ohsix...the bg is one group until approx. the 58 cross where bg1 breaks off at about vector 145 to target 69 while rest of group goes to target 67. BG1 proceeds to 79 after bombing 69. Bg2 proceeds to 81 bombs it and both groups meet approx. 79 area for reform, reception escort and homeward bound. Might have to put together a time hack and fly the route to time the arrival of everyone at 79 at same time.
Its semi complicated timewise.
Right now guessing we want 352 to break dar approx. 10-15 min before bg 1 breaks dar. Bg 1 breaking dar perhaps 5-10 min before bg2 does. Hopefully the skies will be littered with drifting down LW socks we faked em out of.
Need to fly some routes and do some timing thingy's

ALL FIGHTER GROUPS:

Must fly the P-47D first sortie for this frame.

Ground crews are working feverishly to get the P-51D Bobweight added to the elevator system.

“It was not uncommon to have almost 30 percent of
P-51 sorties aborted for mechanical reasons (typical abort rate for all causes for all USAAF aircraft was 8 percent).
When the D model became available in quantity in the summer, cases of the
aircraft losing its tail surfaces in flight began to be reported. Flight
restrictions were placed on the aircraft and the tail surfaces were beefed
up. Wing failures were also reported due to control stick force reversal
in high-speed dives. The bobweight was added to the elevator control
system to fix this problem.”

Awaiting Penetration point and timing.

Sure is nice to have time to hash out possibilities and get good input from all. I have been busy doing the books for tax season and just checking in now.
I really like the ideas presented, keep on refining them. Seems as though everyone is on the same page with the bombers splitting up enroute with the 352nd
faking a run in the center and meeting the buffs. Doesn't look like I should get credit for COing the frame ; ). I'll do radar and make sure the timing is as
perfect as possible.

It is going to be important to get the bombers gathered and onboard with the plan BEFORE the frame starts.

Well, if you took the northern route, split the buff group approx. 40/50 mile from u boat target at 69, run at it from northwest while other half of group continued onto hit u boat targets at 67,81 both groups would meet over target uboat yards at 79 upon which they form up and come home. Diversion strikes somewhere south would perhaps fake em out a bit and draw them south. Each BG would get two targets. BG 1 gets 69/79..BG 2 gets 67/81....everyone meets over 79 area for ride home.
A really bold diverson would be for the 352 to cross allied lines over the front presenting as large a radar picture as they can, draw LW to them, and...….kill them all :) fighting their way to group up point near 79. Their timing to cross the lines would be important, or rather their timing to appear on radar would be.

Agreed because the first two frames did not kick up many Jerry's. Breaking up into two groups would shorten the time over the targets. -tote-

Thank you for DTF and suggested route.

352nd will most likely take off from Field 2 in England or 106 should timings permit.
Being at alt will be critical both for range and for ability to pursue enemy.

If penetration time is T+25 or more this will be no problem.

appreciated
