-- Gentlemen,
352nd Sortie One: CO 352nd wanted to be of best benefit to the Emperor and stayed in the magical Tower to see if our base at Rabaul would be the main thrust of the Gaijin horde. As one would expect no obvious thrust was seen so we upped from 62 to see if a raid from the sea was to be found, when we chased some ghosts (for us) we eventually came south to our old haunts at Buna.
Engagements with heavy bombers ensued with some fighters and then an escort of our Bettys to targets in the 80 areas. 2+ buffs claimed and 4+ fighters eventually claimed in a long fight.
Sortie Two: field 66 rebasing and some at 57 returned us to Buna. Our bombers came in at 18k+ and 3 to 6 enemy fighter were immediately encountered with most diving to the deck immediately. 3+ claims made and 1 loss in these continuing encounters.
Sorties Three and beyond: With able squad commanders at Buna the CO took the magical tower ride to Rabaul having seen 5+ radar blips within 20 miles of base. A Ki-43 was had and patrolling for cons ensued as rest of the group enjoyed action for the next 45 minutes. CO found that he should ask what the blips were first and found all were friendly. So the long trek to Buna began again whilst his fellows enjoyed action galore with 6+ claims made.
At the top of the third hour CO arrived at Buna. The enemy of course decided to call it a night and being among the Emperors most loyal........ CO led elements to dishonor our enemies by touch and going on THEIR base. Then to honor one of our greatest (Sakai-san), a brief airshow of loops was done in the middle of the hordes ack farms. This showed them the Emperors Greatness. We went home exultant.
