From what KC's e-mail said, it appears that each side now gets to occupy all the closed fields they destroyed. The Allies no longer have airstarts just when they will start using their big bombers. That means that they will have to use Port Moresby (fields 89 and 90). They will take off to the NW and grab altitude, while they use F82 to attack our three closest fields (79, 80, 81). Because we will have the advantage of tremendous radar coverage, we should see every turn they make. GCI will be extremely important to us.

We'll need to quickly close F82, while the majority of our fighters sniff out their bombers. Of course, there will need to be a quick cap placed on F82 by a few fighters, if we are to be successful quickly.

Our bombers could go ship hunting before they arrive at F81 later in the frame. Unbelievably, their DD Ai routine closed F82. I see no reason why they should think they can't do it again. Another option for the bomber crews would be to use our newly acquired F108 to strike Port Moresby.

We need experienced bomber killers to take the fight to them before they get close to their intended targets, if we are to get a second shot at them before they arrive.

What are you thoughts?

Unless I'm mistaken, and I could be, the Allies have closed all fields at Buna.

Something to keep in mind. It appears the allied will have 2 P-38's they can fly out of the 3 lives in frames 4 and 5 according to the rides available.

Ship hunting will probably be the most effective way for the bomber guys to gather points for our side. Against P-38's the Betty will be flaming torches.

IMHO it will be suicide to try stopping B-24's it will be beyond most of our aircraft abilities, since they will be going against not 1 set of gunners, but 4 sets for every real pilot. The points for bombers just aren't worth it in my book.

The points for p-38's makes these last 2 frames a better way for fighters to gather points.

FWIW

By the time I left for the night, they had only closed F82, which was right along the coast. And, it was closed mostly by the DD Ai routine. If they closed 79, 80, and 81, in the short time that was left, I am very impressed. That would change everything.

I get what you're saying regarding the B24. That's like fighting a rabid bulldog. The piloted B24 would be the point of the diamond formation and would be the only one to attack head on.If we are going to just leave them be, they should all up in them and go everywhere. I kind of pictured that only about 4-5 of them would be giving it a try. But, even then, a tight formation would be impenetrable, as you suggest.

We find the bombers, we find their P38 escorts. So, we just don't risk too much with going after the bombers, but pick off their escorts.

If we go after shipping, we'll need some scouts to assist.

All of Buna is closed and will be Green. Our invasion at Milne Bay ended up a farce, not like what happened at all for their invasion. It's kind of funny that TBD's cause as much damage as Betty's, but that's another story. ;)

Remember there's no S3 this weekend. The warriors went AWOL for the big Gladiator showdown on the one-eyed monster. Juice has stepped up and is occupying the big chair for frame 4.

I was going to go online and do some checking, but Warbirds decided it doesn't like me anymore and will crash anytime I attempt to go online. I have performed nearly every trick in the book (ie computer restart, program reload, throw settings away, etc. etc.) but it still crashes. I've posted in the Main Forum and have sent a request to iENT technical support. No replies yet.

You guys are already doing what I would wish.

Ki-44 has 4 .50 cal and is OK (only) at B-24 killing. Possible 352nd can attempt Buff killing and P-38 engagement while best points targets are settled (agreed upon)
by buffs and other groups.
As seems to be the norm lately I have limited time and will depend on suggestions.

Go at it.

thanks

muzz's updated map presents some tantalizing possiblities.....can axis fly buffs otta 108 and perhaps finish off milne bay? 2 airfields there and we own the two ports right at milne bay....ack would be tuff on any gv we have available but......with some airsupport????
Do we get any fighters from 108? or just buffs?
Thier heavies have to take off form Moresby...and climb out from which direction?
Mayhap we can come at em from 2 differant directions?
Just putting it out there....

Discuss gentlemen,

Hitting them hard where they aint first sortie would be good.
Then after the boring(!) part we can attempt to thwart their intentions.

Only Buffs at 108, with no airstart is what I understand. Which means the buffs would be alone hitting milne. We do have radar there and could tell if they launch.
A Milne run would be another long one. Maybe if no enemy on dar, don't climb so high and get there earlier? Would there be enough time for a second sortie to finish or head to a new target? Not all bombers would have to go there, probably need what 4 human pilots that know the field layouts?

But then again IF you close both fields that is 40 points I think.

I'm not even sure we are allowed to roll in gvs. Rules don't say yea or nay.
If we are allowed, what airframe are we gonna lose if one dies in a gv?
Need to ask kaceyj.
Thinking out loud.
