--= AAR TTC #3 =--
The 4th Jagdgeschwader took off from F6 Hammam and immediadetly cruised south to intercept any enemy fighters taking off from F86 Aman. Our general anticipated heavy P-38 Gabelschwanz Teufels to launch an early jabo raid and was correct. The 4th JG caught the P38's climbing and downed several of them and a few Spitfeuers as well. After the skirmish we protected the Heinkel 111 raid on F86 Aman. Our geschwader kept harassing the enemy to the southwest but then returned to Hammam to rearm.

During the middle part of the German offensive the 4th JG escorted Heinkels, Fallschirmjägers in Ju-52's and had sporadic engagements with the Allied airforces. With the help of air support the German Reich was very succesful and was able to move the frontlines many miles in all directions. Several new cities and airfields are now in our hands, including Medierda, Mateur, Goubellar, Points du Pahs, Enfidaville and Aman.

During the end of operations the whole African Luftwaffe made a heroic defense of the heavily bombarded strategic city of F4 Bizierte. Our Afrika Korps was able to hold it until reinforcements arrived, and several Allied fighters were shot down for the loss of only a few of ours.

Lessons learned
* We were outnumbered 2:3 but our organised offensive scored a major victory. I believe we need to keep being on the offensive with bomber/escort missions to win the war in Tunisia.
* Launching fighters at T+0 to intercept heavy P-38's while climbing is a good way to hamper the Allies' jabo capabilities.
* When fighting in the Fw 190A-4 don't get low n slow, always keep at max speed. I learned it the hard way this frame.

Great job to all.

A special thanks to darryl. 1. You did not become impatient on your second sortie and followed orders to turn East and wait for escort, it was key to the success of taking field 81 ( I know the old 'hurry up and wait' can be frustrating) . 2. Your suggestion to protect F4 late in the frame from capture was also key to our success.

Thanks to TMOA for JG-51's valiant effort at F4. You held the field until help arrived. Losing F4 would have been a tough blow at the end of a successful frame.

And thanks to the 4th Fg, you had a good balance of aggressiveness and smarts to pull out of a fight when needed to get to the buffs for escort duty.

Salute!

NOOKY:
Thanks for the kind words. A successful night begins with a smart plan. Yours was just that, sir. You have successfully filled some big shoes as CO of the 4th FG. Keep up the good work.
