Gentlemen,
It is much appreciated the flexibility exhibited by all at T-0.
In trying to attempt to be non-standard many caveats rear at the last second. One hopes it was not too poor.

As a mechanical entity, any event (of any type) has a zero beginning. I know of no event that has participants arrive after the beginning with expectations of quality participation, it just simply mechanically has no path. It is interesting that this is a norm in many circles.

(S)s to all who aided in planning and execution.

I believe in theory, sending the AE's out "Under Radar" was a sound approach to perhaps catching the enemy off guard when attacking our fleet at low level.
In practice, however, we saw a flight of 190s make a bee-line to our location about half way to the fleet, 15-20K above us. They came around behind us, dove down, and systematically bounced us at will.

I am confident that not one of our squad was above even 75 feet the entire flight up to that point.

How they knew where we were I don't know, and how they can spot us on the deck from that altitude also eludes me.

Thank god we were in Spits. Most of us were able to evade the bounce. We did lose one that had to ditch from engine damage.
It did, however, throw a wrench in to our getting to the fleet unannounced.

Thanks for taking CO duties.

Swanee,
Yeah I have no confidence that our approach was not seen by "submarines"
I am deluded still that we can treat things as if we can hide or deceive, so even knowing that I still did it to add "fun".
I just thought 352nd would get hit not you guys..... so sorry bout that.

All good.
It did add some spice to the evening. And we did have fun.

Allied ships ruled the Channel so no submarines. Check out the German AARs, I am sure they saw you from what you thought was a high altitude but they were going as fast as possible to get infront of their inbound Do17 strike which the low spits ran into and shot many down.
