We upped from 88 with 7 pilots, due to a misinterpretation we upped in 190Ds instead of 109K thus stripping the LF 16 of additional strippers, my apologies trigr, was a lot going on between my squad and the buffer. With Beaver as frame CO and myself on GCI the lads headed out to the north for the expected route of the buffs. We avoided a sweep of small number of enemy fighters when the call came that the buffs were 120 miles south of us heading 090., attempted to give headings to all groups involved, as trigr wanted the strippers in first then the shooters, we were caught flat footed at the allies plan. We were able to intercept just south of 88 but with the close escort of 51s not much if any damage was inflicted on the buff group. Escorting mustangs chased our lads all the way to the deck making a reversal extremely difficult and we lost at least 4 of the 127 to enemy planes. Additional sorties in chase of the egressing buffs was attempted but same results were noted as the mustangs in superior numbers chased off the Doras.
Again Trigr my apologies on the a/c mix up, <S> Good plan Beaver, its just the allies didn't cooperate. Thank jabo and roan for another spine tickling, butt puckering, high anxiety series, Going to be a tough one for the axis.
