Escorts can still apply b&z tactics at whatever altitude bombers feel they will be most effective at.
109's speed is it's advantage

Escorts try not to get sucked down to the deck.

I am enjoying this discussion, Gents. Well done.

I'll have the plans outlined tomorrow...they will include the aforementioned targets and setup. Late frame, we can assess defenses and assets to determine our final attacks.

The fighters that escorts the bombers will have a hard deck of the bomber alt. The very good observation made in this thread was that if we push the RAF below the bomber alt, the speed of the bombers will help them escape from the enemy climbing back up.

I will have to assign some players to the Dover fields defense down low. They will use the Hurricanes or Wellingtons, but I suspect they will have to come in close to hit their targets.

Good stuff, Gents.

The question has to be asked "How close is this series going to be to The Real Battle of Britain. If they hold to
the facts it is about time for the Brits to bomb Munich by accident and cause the Germans to forget the airfields
they had brought to their knees and to start on London.

That being said if we don't take out the airfields we can now, we will be hassled with Spits and everything else as
the series continues.

If at all possible we should concentrate on the airfields and take as many down as possible thru the whole series to
keep the Brits on their back now and latter in the series.

If we take out what we can, limit their airfields they can work from, then concentrate on the the harder airfields we may be able to stop the Brits later in the series.

Just a thought!

With German troops on the Island....... this is a Harry Turtledove series.

Horrido!

Good point, omega. And great comment by the Cool-man. Those not in the know, go to your liberry and in the SF/Fantasy section you will see 20 books or more by Turtledove. Or just google him at Amazon.

Definitely take out as many fields as possible. The big fields at "Downtown" are gonna be real hard, so maybe we can just eliminate as many small and medium suckers as we can and then go for lite kills and BDA points.

Not sure about effect of closing 74 port, but it can be done easier than the big airfields due to easy tgt acquisition and only a few small things. OTOH, that place could be a good tgt for the boats in last two frames. Ditto for boats trying to reach London in the river. The buildings at 74 are low value, so closure and strategic effect is the biggie.

Lastly, that DAR at 68 gives the enema the most eastern coverage and seems it is worth taking out if we can after the fields. Maybe a good tgt for our drones and we do cleanup later.

from S3 page http://www.squadselectseries.com/events/MOL/MOLmap.pdf

The map shows radars up north (62), one north west of port 74 (63), the obvious one at 68 and one down south that we cannot even hit because it's outside of the gameplay area (78)

With the radar range at 60 miles, all these basically overlap our beachhead area... there is probably some advantage with knocking specific ones out but is it worth the assets to do the job?

Horrido!

My point about the 68 DAR is that it is the furthest east and provides very early warning of our buff flight path from the mainland. So my feeling is we should get rid of us and make things just a bit harder for the Spits and Hurris, ya think?

Cool is right about the other sites covering our beachhead. Ditto for us - we can see all the way to the suburbs of Downtown, including several major fields.
