Hey All,
I haven't stepped up this season yet (lots of RL craziness) so figure its about time.

So, my first question before I ask anything else:

Is the goal to win the series on points or to try and do realistic, hopefully fun, missions?

I am serious about this. If we want to get points, we need to hit shipping hard, probably with low value planes (TBF's). If we want to fly "real missions" we need to do heavy escort B24 raids and big wing our fighters.

Thoughts?

4FG killed ships in F4U-1Ds last frame because too few bomber squad memebers showed up. Had a good time. Your call.

By having the 4th step up to hit shipping . We was out manned in fighter support. The second AI raid was Un escorted because the AE'S was pretty much decimated. Taking on the whole enemy air force earlier..I know points is where it's at..having NO heavy bomber force really puts us into a bind..

Salute!

I like the idea of a gorilla to carpet bomb some place and have 50 lite escorts/sweep/CAP.

I also do not just going for points.

- can we abort AI buff gropes?
- can we gat lite support for Libs and Mitchells coming outta Okinawa?
- The boats get points, but so do a hundred pissant tgts at/near a port.

I vote with Musky and go with a gorilla or two up the throat from Okinawa with lites as they can make the party.

We actually would have won the last from by 36 points if the 2nd sortie wasn't launched... looks like it was a draw.

OK Fighters, What does everyone want? F4U-4 or P51's?

How long can a F4U-4 stay in the air?

In response to your question it should be looked at from both sides. The idea is to win but having fun is a good 2nd !st.
I just like to win at everything but the old "win one for the gipper" takes precedence to also enjoy the game. I for one did not
have much fun in the last Frame. Out of 14 pilots we lost 10 the first 10 min of contact with IJN shipping. The Flack was absolutely
horrendous taking out our best pilots almost immediately.

Question: If we don't have bombers for a strike force and we have to use fighters then why are the fighters not provided with
the same two lives that are given to bombers. Just asking the question.

Salute!

Good view, Omega.

Looks like we have to havr a drone attack with Libs, huh?

Therefore, we could lurch those things with some sweep ahead and escort. Meanwhile, the experienced Mitchell folks could head out and avoid DAR and find/sink some boats.

ONE DRONE ATTACK AT DISCRETION OF ALLIED CO!!!!!!

If we can abort a second drone attack, then we need to.

later.

My read on what jabo said last frame was that the 2nd sortie was planned ahead by the frame CO so it had to execute.
Only plan for a second drone attack if you are sure you want it to run, even if the progression of the frame dictates otherwise.

The IJ get good points for knocking down the AIs. Sure they go down easy but when escorted they take a toll of the IJN too. AEs did very well knocking down interceptors in the first TBF missions.
Its like the IJ saying you cannot bomb a second sortie since the Allies get most of their points doing that.

Two sorties for frame 5. I would pick B24s and send them against a city where they can drop together.
Maybe try a sortie with human B24s dropping together on a city as well. Maybe Nagasaki?

Player bombers flying together with their drones and hitting a city may not get as many points as ships but they would be harder to intercept with escort. Trying to tie the players together with the AI B24 routines would be amazing but difficult to coordinate. Either way the escort could at least be in the area where all the bombers are and help either set that is in trouble.

B24s launching at 2000ft hdg straight to the closest cities would get there quickly.

Worth a shot anyway. My two cents, not a demand.
