Attn: Stalkers/Nomads/Torpedo-Bomber Pilots:

"One thing I learned is torpedoes can be dropped at any altitude and run straight and true, and sink CV's."

This little tid bit was forwarded by one of our Squad mates who was taking instruction on Combined Arms capabilities. Speculation was that this is how the bad guys got our CV in Frame 2.

Aye aye!

Per last two frames, methinks Nomads and Stalkers should be scouts and fly from the island.

- ONE! We need to have the scouts count as one step.

With an attendance of 4 and maybe 5, this seens a reasonable request.

- Nomads have found and sunk two carriers in two frames. Gundoc is on a roll.

- Gums is thinking divebomb versus a Nord delivery or torpodoes. Go with what worked back in 1942. So SBD's seem best choice and they have some guns up front. SO gotta fly one from the island and see hos it is.

- Lastly, I suggest two scouts head southwest and west versus north. We might have a sole scout head north in case IJN is thinking of an east route, then south to the island. But if they wish to hit our boats thay gotta go south east!

Gums opines....

Remember the IJN must attack Midway. So they will be coming for you on that heading from the start.

352nd, certain members wish to be in Buffalo's.

We can do search or escort or whatever. No matter what these certain Buffalo'ers will be in the Air Killing them All.
Want to make sure there is not suddenly no room for the Marines.

Some good points already.

If not for the stoopid 100% gas rule, our SBD's might help defense of the island. That being said....

I maintain the NS and two Nomads could lurch at T+0 and head northwest and straight west. Carry a big egg and take 2 or 3 wingies.

Our sighting of the IJN fleet or scouts or strike folks should, even if our Nasal Radiators can't takeoff until t+45. Dudes on the island can tke off any time.

Can't find a rule that prevents our lites on Midway from taking off at T+0 and helping we slower scouts. Our guardhouse lawyer, Wolf, might find something in 'RULE 10, a, ii" heh heh.

The EXCLUSIVE fighter available on Midway is the Brewster Buffalo. Up to (12) of them can launch at T=0. IF those airplanes are used as "scout protection" Midway will be wholly unprotected as the CBG fighters cannot even takeoff until the IJN strike is AT Midway or even on their way home from that strike.

Midway Island

On Midway, all guns are required targets, barracks buildings are not. Midway may close with the IJN strike, but can't be captured. Should that occur, the Buffaloes could recover there, but they will be "done for the night", as would the "strike" aircraft should they recover on a closed Midway field. IF the "strike" ac happen to have enough fuel remaining, they could recover on the carriers and continue. That would be IF there is enough fuel to go from the USN carriers to the IJN Task Force and return. Theoretically, the carrier-borne strike "could" hit the IJN fleet and recover on Midway, but then everybody is "done for the night".

Aye!

I was not thinking about wasting the lites purely for scouts, but using a few to reach out and try to find the incoming strike and take action.

The 4 or 5 scouts in SBD's have .50 cal guns, so are not dead ducks in a turning fight once light.

The IJN must attack the island, and our boats are too far away to help on first IJN attack.

Using basic speeds and lurching from their boats, the IJN can't hit the island for 20 or 30 minutes, huh?

Seems a few lites could be a CAP way out there while the dedicated scouts zoom out further looking for and finding the boats of the main task force.

jez tinking.......

Gums tinks....
