Salute!

@Saspin: One reason we have seen a drop in participation and general interest has been the plethora of flight model changes. With all due respect to to FM folks that are trying to help, seems to this old codger and Hawk and others that we have seen far too many FM changes in a short time. Hard enuf planning for the frames and heding cats, but then you have to learn to fly the new FM's and see what has changed.

Let's face it, the accuracy of the flight models is not nearly as important as "game play". THAT BEING SAID...... If the basic models come close to the real deal, then go with it. And do not add or enhance stuff like torque, yaw effects due to power changes and such. A far better tweak effort should be directed to making speed stability ( read AoA real world trim conditions) stronger. Over the years the stablity has gotten weaker and weaker. My experience in some WW2 vintage lights is not like the WB models last five or six years. The last two years have gotten worse. One series we even had the Knights threaten to stand down when their favorite ride was changed a lot, and I agreed with them about the FM changes, but not standing down.

I always crack up about the bufftuff whines. Most of us have seen hundreds of pics and videos of Forts flying home with immense battle damage. Then we have the WB damage model that wipes out your stab with a few pings. Serious damage to a Fort or Lib should require dozens of hits except for a few PK hits, and that was like the real world then and what I saw in another life.

I also crack up about a lite outfit that lurches without a GCI contact for the buffs and whines that they had to hold for "x" minutes with no "action" ( read shoot down the buff targets for points). Real world air defense involved scrambles to certain contacts or vectors to contacts if the lites were holding at max endurance. Dawgs' comment about zipping about at max power should be directed at many lite pilots. Both real world and WB models gain energy quickly if proper tactics are employed from CAP orbit or even a reccde run/scout profile. Fuel savings are great. And BTW, the fuel divisor doofer should be given the boot. We need to plan and execute using the best available fuel flow nombers we can incorporate in the FM's.

Oh well, enuf bitching and whining for now.
