After flying in the V1 arena a few times and then talking to others there is one aspect of V1 interdiction that we might want to exploit...the simple fact that us Mac users are able to see/identify a V1 much easier against the ground. PC users are having a helluva time spotting them I understand.
Squad COs/Frame COs might want to dedicate the Mac folks to V1 duty...just a thought!

Hey BEAVER!

Looks like it's gonna be an interesting series. Thank you for your efforts at planning the first frame.

Concern: I have a MAJOR concern about the bombers not being protected more than you have suggested. As you have pointed out, it is vital that the bombers knock out the V1 installations to shut down their use by the enemy the rest of the series. I do NOT believe that our bombers are going to survive without more fighter cover. If we can survive, we CAN close down these V1 installations.

Request: Please increase the number of fighters escorting the bombers into France. Otherwise, the mission will be doomed.

Suggestion: Adding the 352nd or 4th would enhance our chances of success. (I see that you have the 4th going heavy to strike ground targets. Would be better to have them up with us.)

Respectfully submitted,
Darryl

the 8th can also provide escort for your buffs darryl.

PC users should also see the V1's as large black dots, just make sure you have "Enhanced Aircraft Visibility" checked in the Video Options. It sometimes uncheckes with updates, so make sure it's still active. I could easily see them when flying 8000 ft above them (PC user).

Grabbed this screenie just as the V-1 grew an icon so that some frame of reference would be present. Like in other aspects of life, I guess it depends on what one characterizes as "large". Seeing a dot this "large" against the terrain is "interesting". "Enhanced visibility" box checked.

The "Channel 1944 terrain" presents a terrain background with far less "black" than the "Test Arena", which may make visibility against the terrain a tad easier.

Happy trails...

You need to follow the orders you were given, until they are changed by the Frame CO, not me. As a CO of the bomber squad, I am respectfully giving my input to the frame CO and I will wait for his reply. Frankly, I am asking for more.

Thanks <S>

rcflys, your squad it to intercept V1's, if the bombers are in your area on egress and they need help, then you can get in there by all means. I will post in-game if we need you elsewhere.

I tried knocking down some V1's and it wasn't too bad. In the Spit XIV, you can catch up with them in a ground race, but it takes a while. They also tend to gently porpoise up and down, while staying on the same heading. I'd resist the urge to dive with a lot of speed. They are a small target and with plenty of time to make the shot, I found it easier to close more slowly.

At about D2 a good quick hit with 20mm was all that was needed to kill one.

The hard part is spotting them! A fast moving small dot against the terrain below you is all you'll see.

Should be fun!
