First off I understand we have to keep the S3 alive and going....

I just looked at the S6 for frame 4 planning purposes and noted that the Knights all flew the Fokker. So in reality their buff pilots flew a fighter so they wouldn't have to fly their crappy bomber. I know they are a composite squad so they can have their own fighter escort but for strict bomber pilots to fly a fighter to avoid a plane is BS.

Effective way to deny points....but if we are down to point counting then the spirit of S3s has been perverted.

Need a commanders intent for each frame....dictated by JABO to keep the spirit of S3s going where he envisioned them to go. Make it score able... Example would be the S3frame where Japanese did not bomb pearl....not the intent of the S3.

Horrido! Salute! Banzai!

In all fairness, the Knights have to fly all the planes the Donkey assigned versus pick and chose. Ditto for we LW buff pukes. And having to fly the Stuka and all three medium buffs in 5 frames is not realistic or fair. During the blitz I will guarantee the pilots of the 111 and 17 and Stuka did not change planes during a few weeks. About the time you figure out the wierd plane, then you have to move to another plane that you have never flown. The new, improved, more accurate squirrely FM's don't help either.

It ain't about points, normally, but this scenario does not seem to make "moving the front" a big deal. Field capture is mystical, and results for next frame are equally mystrerious for planning purposes. Worse of all, we can not control the critters!!!

If we are to have a moving front and such, then we need to have fairly quick results of our efforts friends. This is not like the real world that we mostly had one day to have reasonably accurate intell/BDA.

Meanwhile, the lite mafia has new lite FM stuff and such this week. Mandatory downgrade, but we buffs still do not have "doors open lites", "green lite when Norden is settled", gauges that are useless ( have to use the "hud" to see heading", cockpit art that is off the wall ( see B-29), and the beat goes on.

Folks wonder why we have lost buffers for last 5 or 6 years or so. Despite constant whines about the cockpit art that does not reflect human bibocular vision, and same problem for the lites, the new B-29 vision is criminal. Then we have the basic indicators for doors, "green" Norden, nd so forth. We cannot read the speeds or headings or such unless using the "hud".

This has to pass, huh?

Squads that have dual roles can choose how and who they fly those roles. One rule is you cannot switch planes for that frame. Lots of squads are facing difficult times keeping members and all are reporting smaller and smaller numbers each year.

Besides the plan didnt work out for them and they lost their first frame so I doubt you would see them do it again.

It should be with penalty if the known bomber pilots fly a fighter they should HAVE to fly their lesser bomber. Which in turn what was done kinda gamey.

Also I am pretty sure in the old forum that when it was brought up as The reason they wanted to be composite was because they have pilots who basically only fly fighters and that they could have their own internal escorts, which is understandable. So if they are short bomber pilots a fighter pilot could fly as a bomber. But don't recall anything about bomber pilots flying as fighters. While our guys flew the Stuka and they avoid flying the Kate by deciding to fly fighters is BS whether there plan worked out or not that wasn't how the the composite was to be used/setup.

Jugggo,

This isn't true. There were a lot of reasons why we didn't fly bombers.

1. Bombers AI sucked and work.
2. Frame 2, we only had 2 bomber pilots.

Out of frustration with the FM we asked for approval from Jabo how to handle this and it was in no way to keep us from flying the Kate.

There was BS in this series with screwed up AI's, FM and rules we have just about had it with the S3's. I have lost several good pilots because of it and we have series doubts about continuing. We miss the S3 of the past and wish we had it back.

I am considering dropping the bombers and just be a fighter squadron. Oh ya, the reason why we became a composite squadron is because we never in the past got fighter coverage unless we brought our own with us.

Salute! Horido!

I have to throw my support with Hawk and his concerns.

The Knights have been and still are the S3 traditional "tactical" buff outfit. They adapt well to changing frame conditions, and fly the planes well. The DR are also a good tactical outfit.

We are on the verge of being Sunday night litefests.

I make the motion we move over to the CO forum and have a pow wow. Second, anyone?
