The Allies must travel maximum distance to get to Rabaul, somewhere around 230-260 miles one way. There will likely be only one attack by the bombers/strikers. This leads me to think some of the Lightnings will be laden with fuel AND some with ordnance for jabo strikes to clean up what the strikers cannot or did not hit.

There is a large area of sea (9.7-12.7) where we can hide scouts to intercept the incoming bombers and heavy fighters. If we can get on top of the bombers and shadow their movement we may be able to vector our fighters around the 38s and smack the bombers before they get to western New Britain.

Fields are shown on the map, and as always, ideas and tweeks are welcome!

Jabo - There is a typo on the map where 12.7 shows 12.12.

fwiw- Clicking map has a broken link, at least for me.

Are you figuring the Allies won't come from the West or SouthWest, as they can base West of the line at any field they own?

Thanks for heads up on the link, Split. Forgot to upload the file.

I do not think they would risk coming through the coast watcher/dar covering the entirety of the middle of New Britain. I wouldn't send my guys through there when the ocean approach is so large and devoid of 'eyes'.

That said, the targets could be the central NB fields - forcing us to roll from Lae or far west NB island to defend Rabaul (in Fr. 4 or 5).

I think their Rabaul designation will indeed be Rabaul and not the central fields. Although....the 38s could finish off the middle island fields.

Ugggggg.
