Jman and I have been working on ship damage modeling and Jman looked into weapons.txt

Here are the results.

1. Jman found the 75mm was erroneously tipped with a 3 megaton nuclear weapon. It has been corrected back to reality.

2. The ship damage models have been revised and I think they are much more interesting. Strafing will kill gunners and intense strafing will kill the engine, crippling the boat. 75MM hits will do the same. None of the ships are one shot one kill with the 75mm

Boats take 2-3 75MM hits to sink
Transports 5-6
Freighters 7-8
DD's 15-20
Bigger ships need the shots well placed through the topsides for best effect

Ignore where the bullet streams are coming from on the ship. Rake them stem to stern to kill gunners. Engines are located under smokestacks.

Bombs
1x 500 will sink a boat or transport (direct hit)
2x 500 will sink a freighter
3x 500 will sink a DD

Operation Lost is setup to practice with these new settings

Green Field 72 has an airstart. Boats are east of 72. Freighters north and Transports west.

You may thank Jman and I later for making your strike assignment more difficult and interesting.

Where to aim to kill the gunners:

Freighter- (big green liberty type ship) bow and stern in the gun positions (square box shaped areas) and also top of the bridge left and right side.

Transport- direct center...look like a twin 40mm gun.

boat/vic56- unarmed!

We have found skip bombing to work quite well. Line up with nose of moving vessel and drop (must be NOE) a D7 and whammo :D

Beaver forgot the pull up hard and away after release to
1) not hit a mast ; and
2) not get blown up by your own bombs !

Saw barvic execute a perfect skip bomb attack and Muzz hit a warping ship way above it. Tough targets to attack for sure. Did notice the flak from the nearby DDs flying thick around you but though they came close nobody seemed to die from that.
