I was in testing with Dawger tonight and found the following,

1 - The 75mm is a one shot kill. They wont have enough ships for us to shoot.
2 - We need the 500lb bombs for killing DD's. The 75mm will kill them fairly effectively but we will loose B25's in the process. Put your wingmen in a wedge, tight, at 5K we can take out the DD's
3 - Rockets work just fine on freighters. If you can hit them. Not sure we need them because the 75mm work fantastic.

note: watching Dawgers video, I never shot that close. I was getting one shot kills at 300~400 yards.

Dawger, see my post. 500 lb bombs work great on ships.

From your post and Muskies I suggest the strike guys plan to bomb the DD's and 75MM the freighters.

I had an 18 freighter sortie with the 75MM last night. I also killed a couple DD's with the 75MM but you have to be very careful and constantly jinking.

<S> Dawger-

The KoN fighters would like to all roll in Spits for this frame.

Reasons for this as follows:
- Main reason being we'd like to ALL be in P38s for the longer push in frame 3, in order to cover our bombers all the way to target. All of us in 2nd line ac for this frame guarantees that.
- 2 of our guys were KIA in the first frame, so they are relegated to 2nd line ac, and we'd all like to fly the same ac type together.
- Since this is a much smaller hop, The Spit would be perfect for flying high cover above the B25s
- Lastly.. I just love the Spit

Plane choice is yours.

Just make sure you have fuel for the plan. I would suggest staying in the tower until you confirm all the bombers are up.

PDF in this file...the text portion of orders below. Didn't look like PDF had uploaded so I started editing.

Battle for Huon Peninsula Frame 2
Unit Basing
FINSCHAFEN HARBOR STRIKE

The Knights That Say Ni! / 69th Horand Field 80 B25D/P38G
Nomads Horand Field 80 B25D
United Mud Movers No 7 Field 79 B25D

SHIPPING Strike
RCAF Borio Field 81 B25H
Night Stalkers Borio Field 81 B25H

Pursuit
475 FG Ward Field 89 P38
352 FG Jackson Field 90 P38

Overall Plan

Sortie 1
Pursuit (475FG and 352FG) will takeoff at FRAME TIME ZERO (FT+0) and form up over Port Moresby and sweep north along the CHEVRON TRACK, climbing to 30,000 feet to NADZAB LAE area, engaging and killing any enemy located. They will continue sweep along CHEVRON TRACK to Finschafen Area and provide coverage for inbound STRIKE.

PURSUIT GROUPS will arrive at FINSCHAFEN NO LATER THAN FRAME TIME 35 (FT+35). Once in the fighter box, 352FG will cover SHIPPING STRIKE along the RED ROUTE in the center of the FIGHTER BOX.

475 FG will cover the FINSHAFEN HARBOR STRIKE and its egress to radar edge then will return to FIGHTER BOX.

FINSHAFEN HARBOR STRIKE (KNIGHTS/69TH/NOMADS/UMM) will delay takeoff until FRAME TIME 15 (FT+15). They will form on a 040 heading with SHIPPING STRIKE, climb to 10,000 and proceed via described route. Escort for ingress will be provided by Knights and elements of 475FG and 352FG in second line aircraft. FH STRIKE will PRIMARILY TARGET static shipping at F60 and F61. .50 cals on the B25D will destroy these targets. Other ground targets can be struck but are secondary. After destroying the static shipping, FH Strike will egress 120 escorted by 475FG under clear of radar then, RTB Horand.

SHIPPING STRIKE (RCAF/NIGHTSTALKERS) will delay takeoff until FRAME TIME 15 (FT+15). They will form on a 040 heading with FH STRIKE, climb to 10,000 and proceed via described route. Escort for ingress will be provided by Knights and elements of 475FG and 352FG in second line aircraft. SHIPPING STRIKE will PRIMARILY TARGET shipping in the fighter box along the shipping routes displayed on the map. Egress will be at STRIKE LEAD discretion but no later than FRAME TIME 70. This gives you 20 minutes in the BOX to locate and kill ships. Announce all convoy locations using reference letters on shipping routes. Escort and cover will be provided by 352FG.

Sortie 2 and Beyond
All groups will rebase in the Horand area (F79,80,81,82).ALL Groups will be ready for Sortie 2 takeoff at FRAME TIME 115 (FT+115)

Second sortie will target CONVOYS for B25H units and STATIC Ships at F23,28, 24, 40 for B25D units.

ALL GROUPS will remain in visual range until convoy sighted or arrival a F23 area.

NOTES:
475FG and 352FG will assign at least ONE PILOT each in a second line aircraft to fly from Port Moresby at FT+0 to HORAND to JOIN the Escort for the STRIKE GROUPS. This will give the FG’s valuable position information for the Rally over Finschafen Area. P40 is suggested.

Questions and Comments are welcome

Just follow us Coolon, take the Skip Bomb package as the ships are now harder. We can use the 75mm on boats, but the skip bomb on the destroyer and freighter. ;)
