When? s3 time sunday night 7:30 CST
Where? Combined arms arena Ardennes terrain.
Buff drivers and Gv drivers log into the Combined arms.
fighters log into regular WB Ardennes terrain.
(everyone will windup in the same arena)
This event will again showcase the new auto ground war with forward deployments for gv's as well as the the new capture system and score system.
Multiple drones with transferable command to each drone as well as the ability to vary the drone wingman each buff takes. Don't forget you may also vary the bombloadout for each drone.
Capturing the HQ will win the war.
Fields 2 and 4 are the HQ's
Fields 1 and 3 will be locked down.
Two approaches to take.
Ground forces may attack jumping from base to base to move the Forward edge of battle ( FEBA) to within forward deployment range or direct strike on the HQ.
Remember that airforces by destroying an enemy bases fixed assets can deny that field a forward deployment option for the enemies GV forces.
Remember also that any "contested" field ( gray) can be captured by EITHER side. If the enemy "recaptures" a field, its rebuilt.
The purpose of this event is to showcase these new features and build player familiarity. Multiplayer involvement will also help with a full load system test, discussion of settings, analization of gameplay before trying this out for a full two week TOD run as well as possible S-3 use.
The event arena will be left public for the entire week for practice and learning.
Feel free to ask questions on this thread.
That is all

Well, it was interesting.
It wasn't over in a hour like last time. Air battles were good for the first hour or so....odds swayed to one side later and the battle got close so it gravitated to a ground war a bit later on, but later switched back to air when field 4 was getting hit and was out of range of any gv forward deployment.
I can see that being able to transfer command from your lead buff to your drone is a big plus in keeping buffers in the fight. Forgetting to actually do the bomb loadout for each individual drone burnt myself once. When taking buffs you have to actually setup the bombloadout for each drone has to be set as it doesn't automatic go to the loadout you choose for your lead buff.
The number of drones that can be taken is also adjustable in the hostgamebegin file...which is food for thought, whether they have one drone available or up to 3 total.
Actually learning to make the switch, the how to's is a biggee as it takes several seconds to make the transfer.....or ride your drone all the way down and you get automatically transferred, but that can take longer to, especially at alt.
I think being able to log into one arena and you choose the interface you want to use is a biggee, in other words, you can use the multi drone m4 interface, or log into an play same arena with regular WB options is a plus.....
Even not having gv's enabled for humans for an s3, I feel the auto ground war is a very good replacement for static mbl files of gv's that we are sometimes required to strike during certain s3 scenerio's since they actually interact with players and will spawn whenever humans are within range of a certain target.
At any rate, I want to thank everyone for participating in this test of a brand new system. Its got some possibilities in its use for different kinds of events both for MA play and s3 play.

It would be good to have a bomber pilot that is using the system right a step by step instruction set for those new to it. I know you are busy sleepy we need you keeping the balls in the air :)

A gift from Idunno who has been kind enough to help out with this a great deal. No sound and its a first attempt but I think gets the job done.

Years ago I remember playing Aces of the Pacific on a friends computer and if I recall correctly, you were able to command AI fighter planes. This was an offline-only game so you were never interacting with the human element. Has this been attempted with Warbirds? If so, I would guess it did not go well as it not available now.

Just a simple question as I see different ideas being tested.

Yes, fighters can be added to the mix, they could take fighter drones with them, or bombers etc. It was just felt at this time it may not be the prudent thing to do although it can be looked at later as another test.
Many features have been taken out and we working on making small incremental changes concentrating on the system itself and see how it goes.
Also, there was an issue with having to many drones in the arena and cutting down on people fe's, although I do think that a fighter taking a couple of bomber drones and being able to escort your own buff force might be kinda cool and am tempted to try that some time.
