Just speaking off the top of my head,
Been a long time since we had the Corsair for us strike guys. I know they were messed with a couple years ago, not sure what people think of them. I believe they are the Night Stalkers base ride. Maybe in scenario #9?

Also, had a lot of fun the series we used the ME262 as a strike plane. That was a blast, doubt it would fit in well anywhere but maybe?

The Corsairs have brand new FM's and motors (Six months by now, maybe more) and have been in the AFMA since it was born

JABO and gang, just a reminder that 127 wing (416 and 417 RCAF combined) have agreed to fly either strike, fighter or whatever else needs to be done in the best interest of the game.
Basically we have all these aircraft at our disposal to be used as cannon fodder, hate to waste them :) If this will help the numbers as it were.

Thanks Swede it is a big help. Thats the next post for squad numbers.

Just trying to get an idea on what we will see planes and FM wise. Getting a good idea of what we have now. Will fine-tune the list soon. Its nice to see the Tony and P38G in there now.

Revised the order and dropped the Finn event. Leningrad Terrain is still a long way off, we just have snow in it nothing else. So it may be ready with the new Finn a\c.

Tony vs P38G first off. Sounds like the FMs have been both revised for this one. Ki43s and P40s as secondary fighters. All bombers have been revised I believe.

Let's do New Guinea no GPS!

Bombers have not gotten full revised FMs yet but several tweaks.

Which bombers will be in the first event?

And I will make the Ki 43 a priority for a revised FM, at least on the handling side.

Or maybe just leave the GPS ON, like in most S3 Events. The 475th can turn theirs off if they want. Just put tape over the F1 key. They already have a "work around" for no GPS. Somebody else will develop another "work around", then it is just like it was ON in the first place. No GPS just makes the Frame/Series tedious for no real gain. There's no good reason to give pilots second thoughts about participating in S3 Events.

The real gain is a much more exciting event.

The work around you speak of has been corrected and folks that are constantly seeking to cheat in the S3 aren't flying in the spirit of the event anyway.

Over the summer, at least three of these "cheats" were corrected specifically.

Grid reference in the HUD is now removable by arena setting to remove the no GPS "cheat". (SPINDZ)

Sitting in the aircraft until the end of the event to avoid the kill message should be a thing of the past. There is now an arena setting to force exit five seconds after ditching with damage. (SPINDZ)

Landing with a wing missing has been coded out of the game. (Idunno did this one)

I also have put in a request for the ability to turn off kill messages in the buffer which hopefully will be used in the S3 as well.

S3 is supposed to be something different from the Main and a re-creation of history, not more of the Main BS although last season we saw the Pearl Harbor event totally bastardized by groups more intent on the points instead of the spirit of the event.

This is what will cause folks to leave, not fear of getting lost.

Speaking only for myself, I think we have enough changes to contend with.
I get lost going around trees :D
And I can't tell my left from my right.

Not the "left, right North South stickers".

I realize that we all have certain things we want to s in the game but with all the changes we have to adapt to adding in no GPS may be the bridge too far.
I say let it go for now, set up an S3 event on an off night and give it a whirl.

There's little time to get used to the new FMs, there's no tim for guys like me to learn something lil real world navigation.
And like Wolf said, if that's your thing, turn it off for yourself and enjoy!

Jabo, we have made great strides!
Both C.200 and P-36 can go in as it now stands.
The cockpits are bland and you have to use the HUD but they do work.
Mr. Dawger can speak more on the FMs.

One would think folks interested in WWII aviation would be clamoring for more simulation not less. Navigation with no wind and a perfect map is fairly simple, especially in a terrain like New Guinea.

While I appreciate the sentiment "of just turn it off for yourself" that isn't the point. The point is an extra layer of challenge to the entire event.

S3 has become a clinical points gathering exercise with perfect intelligence and perfect navigation. It definitely needs some fog of war introduced and uncertainty.

Which is why I am all for no GPS, no kill messages, gray radar dots and the same radar symbols for AI as humans on radar (Another S3 driven change that is available NOW)

I actually have a no GPS New Guinea event ready to go. I have been too busy working on FM's and setting up the Marstown practice arena to advertise and run the event.

If Jabo decides to not utilize the no GPS, gray dots, AI same as humans, forced exit on ditch etc etc in the first series I will pull the trigger and run it.

I flew the new MC200 last night online against Dobs. It flies great, turns well, accelerates like crazy.....all below 15,000. Its not fast and it is a dog up high so before everyone declares it Uber...don't turnfight against it on the deck.

Same for the P36.

...........................................................................................

New flap changes really change the fights. First notch of flaps in new FM planes is lots of lift little drag and subsequent flap levels are almost all drag. Models with maneuver or combat flaps now have tremendous nose rate capability at high speed. Low speed, full flap fights are not going to be as much fun as they used to be.

N1K1 is fairly awesome. It has combat flaps.

New Spit 9B climbs great but expectations of super turn ability may not be met.

P38 series is now turned upside down. F model, lacking maneuver flap is worst turner of the bunch. Subsequent models have tremendous turn rate at speed with first notch of flaps. Full flaps are no longer a good idea. All P38 models roll much slower than before with the exception of the boosted aileron P38L.

109's have maneuver flap but are harder to fly slow with the addition of torque and a much more effective rudder. Same goes for all the single engine fighters regarding torque.

Torque levels for all airplanes are still below real world levels but much higher than before.

P51 series has new handling including maneuver flap plus new motors on D and B

P47 is a much improved flight model and is fun to fly. It still isn't a turn fighter but now has tremendous zoom climb and is responsive to the controls.

I built a new KI43 FM last night.

Now I must go and do some bomber FM's for New Guinea. I am guessing B25's and Betty's but would like to know for sure.
