S3 #54 - The Channel Dash - Spring 1942
Operation Cerberus is underway. Silently with much subterfuge the battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau along with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen and many covering E-boats left Brest France and in darkness proceeded up the English Channel. The British must sink them by whatever means possible using their FAA Swordfish, Coastal Command Beauforts or Bomber Command Blenheims. The Luftwaffe under Adolf Galland has to protect the Kriegsmarine with a mobile CAP by day and night. Both sides will contine the pressure on coastal targets regardless of the outcome of the Channel Dash and later as spring turns to summer the Luftwaffe will switch to daylight raids. It will be a hit and run affair with the new FW190 "jabos" as the RAF tries to stop these fast raiders from dashing across the Channel near Calais.
This series simulates the events over the English Channel in late winter and spring 1942. The first three frames are the Channel Dash proper with the German fleet moving along the Channel. Frame 1 is a night affair while the follow two frames occuring during daylight with heavy low winter overcast. Each side attempts to protect their fleet assets and sink the enemies. The final two frames simulate the heavy jabo raids by FW190s against England and the RAF response to them as well as their own forays into France to shoot down enemy a/c.
The Channel Dash runs on Feb 8, Feb 15, Feb 22, Mar 1 and Mar 8.
