Basic Rules

Initial Format - subject to change before the first frame.

Start Times - each frame uses the following schedule;

  • T+0 - Dawn - flight enabled for all a/c
  • T+30 - Full light
  • T+60 - Rain
  • T+90 - Sunshine
  • T+160 - Rain, last surface attacks completed all a/c must disengage ASAP.
  • T+180 - Near dark, all squads must be in tower or on final.

Operational Restrictions - each side may only conduct operations in the area outlined in the game map.

Altitude Restrictions - none

Airfield Basing Restrictions - before the series begins each side must break up their available a/c steps and base them at airfields on the map. From that allocation the Frame CO may then assign squads to those fields. Each side may only field a specific number of steps at each airfield depending on that fields size. Larger squads may break up their steps and assign them to more than one airfield.

  • Small fields = 3 steps
  • Medium fields = 4 steps
  • Large fields = 6 steps
  • Cherbourg = 12 steps

Target Area - the map is divided into east and west target areas. The 5 grid line running north and south is the divider and can be considered in either target area.  the Luftwaffe must attack only in the East in Frame 2 and 4 and in the West in Frame 1, 2 and 3.

Target Hardness - factory complexes are very difficult to damage heavily. Bombers must salvo large bombs onto the major factory buildings to destroy them. All targets are tougher and all bombs have smaller blast radius so large bombs do more damage than small bombs.

Aircraft Roles - only the Luftwaffe have a/c types which must be assigned to hit specific targets. Stukas may only hit shipping with bombs or torps. Ju88s can only hit industry targets bridges and ports. Jabos(109s+110s) may hit any ship, port, HQ or bridge.

Bomber/Strike AI - no AI allowed

Spitfires - the RAF begins play with Spit I M03. Those pilots that loose an a/c to enemy action(credited kill) during a frame must fly the Hurri I next frame. If they do not loose that Hurri I to enemy action in that frame they must fly the Spit I M03 again the frame after. Pilots honour.

Luftwaffe Missions - the Luftwaffe plans bomber missions against English targets. They score 1 point for each industry with heavy levels of building damage, 0.50 for each port with heavy damage, 0.25 point for each freighter sunk and 0.25 for each bridge or HQ completely destroyed.

RAF Missions - the RAF plans bomber intercept missions and scores 0.5 point for every bomber shotdown, 0.25 for each stuka or jabo shotdown.

Victory Conditions - Victory conditions are cumulative and a winner is declared only after all the frames have been run. The total points for both sides are compared after 5 frames;

  • 0-3 point difference is a draw
  • 4-6 point difference is a minor victory for the side with the greatest number.
  • 7+ is a major victory for the side with the greatest number.
