S3 #55 - Pillars of Smoke - Winter 1945 The German Reich has entered its final days but in the air above it the determined Luftwaffe uses new advanced warplanes to defend its homeland. Massive Allied bomber formations raise great clouds of destruction by day and night reducing the defenses to scattered last ditch affairs that cannot win but will not stop. Each day the Reich Defense scraps together units from all over Germany to throw into the air and try and make the Allies pay dearly for turning the Fatherland into a smoking ruin.
This series simulates the events during the final months of the Reich when chaos consumed the once great European power. The mighty Luftwaffe is a shell of its former self, short of fuel and pilots it still fights to the bitter end. The Allies must continue to hammer at the few remaining German resources reducing the effectiveness and number of the new German aircraft. The Luftwaffe must scrabble together a defense out of this devastation and continue to take a toll of the many bombers that raise pillars of smoke across their homeland. Pillars of Smoke runs on Mar 22, Mar 29, Apr 5, Apr 12 and Apr 19 in the ETO terrain. |
