What about the new dot icon for planes? :) Add that head shake feature too :)

Even if they did work that isn't what you use to maintain orientation in a visual maneuvering environment.

The HUD is the only approximation of your "seat of the pants" that we have.

It could use a good working over in that regard. I would much rather more realistic head positions that require look down to even see the instruments.

I feel like a little kid in Warbirds "cockpits".

Only problem with having a realistic head position, is that real world pilots don't have to use their fingers to look around. As such it would be way more complicated to keep check of your instruments with the thumb, which is already needed for 2-4 other functions, than a simple flick of the eye or nod of the head like in real life.

--= EDIT =-- Hmm, now that I think of it I never had a problem with it in microsoft combat flight simulator 3, I simply had a button to snap to instruments. And IL-2 Cliffs of Dover & Battle of Stalingrad have the realistic cockpit-view also.
