You know I don't know if we do. If so, I'll take you up on training and see if I can get Swanee and his crew to join us. Let me know what time is good for you.

Thanks for the offer..

PM when you want to do this...I have a pretty free schedule...most of the time

352nd would like to always ensure that we can select/fit our plane selection to the mission assigned. (nothing to do with 190 discussion)
In the recent past we have accidentally lost choice and wish to make sure it does not happen again (no one at fault).

That being said, it is often a good Strategic (CO) plan to overwhelm the island with what would be considered the "dominate" plane.
Timing of use is not only fun but can be critical if wise or 'lucky".

Squads being comfortable with very low throttle settings and creative climb rates yield very different range capabilities.

This will be a fun one.

Prior Recon REQUIRED Dept.

Which is which? With a limited number of level bombers, and fighters possibly carrying ord to "help out", prior recon will be required in this terrain, even when our fighters are "helping out" with strafing. There are THREE very well defended DIFFERENT fields in this screenie. ALL of our pilots will have to be well acquainted with the layout of target fields in order to restrict our limited heavy ord and guns ammo to the desired targets. For example, the docks are "decoration" they are not targets. Well, at least at these three fields.

Exactly dewolf and juice. Need the right tools for the right job especially this series. We have a pretty good selection of aircraft actually. The 202 was exceptional against the Spit in TWF, the 109 will be our most versatile platform for fighters, and the 205 is no slouch either.

Skirmishing and using quick strikes look to be more effective in the latter frames. In frame 1 and 2 we will have open water to cross to hit anything. If we use the 88s these might be the best frames to use them.

Getting into some Frame 1 detail, the question will be ships? Or land targets? Some of those posts and refineries are big points and relatively easy to close compare to other targets. Need to research them though. I wont be able to look at the terrain until late tonight when I can update. Ships are low on the totem pole for points but if we sink 13 it outscores a city, the top points. We need to get an idea about how many ships would be available to sink.

Tunisia looks to be a honey pot for points, but will likely have the concentration of their fighter force. There are plenty of medium fields to raid along the coast that we could send each group to destroy. The islands afford the best opportunity to get our assets in the shipping lanes quick. However we will have to split one group across both islands and the rest will have to come from the island or up north. Space and time is a plus and a curse in the opening frames.

Zin,
this is going to be a different S3.... the 1:1 scale is going to be difficult with the low numbers....

I talked with Hawk and we even did a little training in the 190F-8. Hawk says they will use them frame 1 if needed. This map is large and our numbers are few....they can pick anywhere and unless we happen to be within 25 miles or so they will be able to attack and egress...the only real threat to the F8 is the Mossie...and the Mossie has to be real close with E or the F8 will outrun it...

Malta IMHO is off the list...its got 3xack batteries covering the port and main targets.

If the KofN where at Pantelleria they could roll F8s and go NOE to the F199 depot. Thats over 60 miles at >300ft. bad news is the dar at 154 can pick us up at Pantelleria as soon as they roll...

The F8s can hit that depot in pairs at a few minute intervals and egress on the deck...rinse and repeat until it's closed.

If Pantelleria is closed then they can divert to Lampedusa..otherwise they will rebase to Sicily proper... F91 or 99 would be closest..

IF we base the KofN at Pantelleria then they are on their own...their fighters can CAP the field to the East out of US dar range.

That would leave the rest of us purely defensive to the North of Malta.

Best I can suggest at this time....

Wednesday 16:55 Left Coast.
Don't bother to do fuel burn tests as yet. Fuel Div does not have the proper value set.

For those unfamiliar with the procedure:
Go to any field.
Open the radio buffer and type ".show".
Find the FUELDIV line in the displayed pop-up box. If it doesn't happen to show "1.0" any fuel testing you do will not be valid in Sunday's S3.

EDIT:
All is right in the world now. Test away.

Happy trails...

The S3 arena currently has the fueldiv set at 1.0. This is the S3 setting for the series, so fuel / range testing
should be valid right now.

Hawk, a fueldiv value lower or greater than 1 will cause a lesser or greater fuel burn rate, this value
is only adjustable to the CM (Jabo), who can tweak this setting for a given series.

Fuel multiplier is now 1.0 which means its using real world values and this is a 1:1 scale map so the short range planes will be at a disadvantage here.

fuel div of .75 means you can only go 3/4 of the distance you would have gun with the 1.0 setting. Or another way is you have .5 fuel modifier so your plane burns gas twice as fast as normal.
